Has anyone changed out the bulbs in their dome light and map lights. I was curious as to what the bulb numbers were and how you get the covers off. Amber would be cool.

Map Lights - #194 Wedge based Bulbs
Dome Lights #different sizes , I used 31mm x 10mm (I think). Have to measure. Festoon Base Bulbs.

or
http://www.discountleds.com/festoon.htm (where I got my bulbs).

If doing the cargo lights - #921 (same has outdoor Bulbs for Malibu Lights). I didn't like the Xenon bulbs I found in ricer section of auto part stores. Base too wide.

Assuming you did get the right dimensions of your Dome lamp bulb and replaced it with the "festoon" LED bulb, I'd be curious to know if these "Festoon" LED bulbs are dimmer (or brighter) than the stock bulb as so many LED's turn out to be dimmer in my experience. They look cool and look like they'd crank out some serious light, but everytime I trade out stock bulbs for LED replacements its always turns out to be a disappointment in terms of comparable light output. If you want accent lighting, however, they're good for that. Has anyone tried a "Festoon" white LED bulb in their domelamp? Thanks

It would be a little dimmer. I'm using the Festoon bulbs in the center position only. The outer position are still the standard bulbs and these are turned on by the button switch.

I replaced all the interior bulbs with Purple - even the door lights. Can't see a damn thing inside but who cares cause it looks good >:D

This is definitely something that I'd be interested in. How much do the led bulbs cost and what are the part #s?

-James.

I've got all red led's in the cab, dome, under dash, map, door, ect. I bought some cheep red light bulbs first. Junk :E: after a couple of weeks they were all pink! Use only led's in my opinion.

One more thing, the 194's with 6 led's are great with 4 led's are good but with a single led, I think they are too focused. You get only a red dot where it's pointed.

ROFLMAO :D ...this just sounded funny to me...I will probably try this as well and not see a damn thing..kind of like lemmings....follow one another LOL

Ok,

Should I go with Red Neon or Blue on the inside.....under dash both sides, under seats for the rear? Any ideas?
Inside is cloth with that diamondback pattern drk grey with black inserts?

Would you have any pics? If not, that was kind of the color I was going but something about blue I like...maybe its that cool blue thing and Avalanche goes altogether

HELP

Hi all,

I just did the interior lighting LED mod and thought I would post some pics. I went with the blue LED's. I purchased them from Discountleds.com. I paid about $50 for 9 LED's. I used 5, 39mm, 9 LED Festoon lamps for the top, center bulbs and the puddle lights on the mirrors. The remaining 4 LED's are 4 LED, 194 Lamps. They are used on the front, top map lights and on the courtesy lamps on the two front doors. Easy, fun mod! (y)

Um, besides your vision, and maybe skin health.

Anyone done this in green?? I was thinking about a green setup and have not seen anyone else with it and was not sure how it would be. I have the Grey Leather interior.
Thanks.

I have seen one in green at a show...pretty cool. You should order one led in green and try it before buying all the bulbs...i bought 3 colors before deciding.

I don't believe your question was answer.

To remove the map lights, look for a small flat slot, along the lens. Use a small screwdriver and pry out gently. It just pops back in place, when you align the lens with a groove.

Has anyone done this with red leds yet? I was looking at discountleds and its gonna cost me about $70 to get all the bulbs I want. I would like to see some results if anyone has done this before spending the money.
