Is '03 Model Year The Last For Cladding?

I have not heard of this rumor. ?I hope it's not true, but if it is, those of us with cladding will have collector AVs.

The spec sheets for the 2004 have cladding (at least the year will start out that way). I am seeing more and more AVs WBH - the dealer by me has more WBH than with. I don't know if that means they are not selling or they are selling and dealers are ordering them. To me the cladding is what makes the AV the AV - the WBH look just like any Silverado. I think the WBH are also gaining popularity because of the $600 price savings. With the price of AVs getting so high to many that $600 is what gets them into a AV. I think if you need that - better to save a lot more and get a Sivlerado Crew.

the wbh may be $600 less, but the hard-cover 3-piece panel doesn't come standard with the wbh. so you have to pay extra if you don't want the soft-cover. not to mention the fact that the '03 model is more expensive than the '02 model. so they get you coming, or they get you going- But either way, they're going to get ya.

I work for a GM dealer and you have been told wrong there is still cladding AV's in 2004 the WBH is still an option

Yes, the hard cover IS standard on the WBH. Save $600 for WBH and ANOTHER $600 if you go with the soft cover.

I believe getting rid of cladding would be a mistake. ?
It looks like other companies are adding their own version of the cladding (protective cover) on the lower portion of the vehicle body (new 4runner for example)

it seems chevy is a little ahead of the game.

I hope not unless they plan on redesigning that big, ugly, naked thing :p

I think your cladding makes your Av a big, ugly thing. You probably don't like my opinion and I don't like yours. Keep negative Av comments to yourself. By the way, I may not like cladding but I respect anyone who does. That's why they make both kinds.

2003 LPM WBH

Did this seriously anger you? ?I'll try to be even more clear next time with more smileys like ?:p or ?;) or ?;D so as to indicate the "light nature" of my post and avoid upsetting you with an OPINION.

This would be a rather boring place without opinions, no?

Hello,
? ? I personally like the Avalanche better without the body cladding. ?I agree that without any moulding on the vehicle it looks a bit bare, but I like the look with the optional wheel flares and side moulding. ? It looks very clean and classy. ?Just my opinion however. ?

I think it would be a mistake to remove all the cladding, or at least not to have it as an option. I like the WBH ones, but it should not be mandated that those are the only ones available. More and more vehicles have at least some cladding (Jeep Grand Cherokee, and a bunch of other SUV's) They would be eliminating a huge portion of the AV buyers who want cladding and sending them elsewhere.

Even more clear? A Smiley sticking it's tongue out, looking like it's gagging is hardly an indication it was in jest.

If they do indeed come out with a 1/2 Ton Short Bed Crew Cab (like Ford) as has been rumored, that could cut into the WBH sales. I probably would have bought one. It would be tough to go back to a pickup now though after riding in the Av.

I agree wholeheartedly! ;D Nekkid or no, the AV is just one sweet ride. I see Chevy keeping the cladding...the WBH was just a way to expand the AV market..(and get more folks on this forum doin' mods and askin' questions!) :B:

I like the cladding on my Z71 03, but if they dropped it I still would buy an AV next time around. I've seen some WBHs and I like them... a little leaner, cleaner look, but some people prefer that. Any way you slice it, the AV is a great truck. (and I think I'm qualified to judge... since 1992 I have owned Ford Ext. Cab (least favorite); '96Ext. Cab 1/2 ton Silverado; '02 Crew Cab 2500 Silverado; '98, '99, and '01 Suburbans. My wife says I have a problem, but she's glad I traded for the AV)

i will say this someone hit the drivers side rear quater panel on my av.....th only thing it did was put a dent in the cladding and scratch it....also a littlt damage to the bumper......the adjuster said that if the cladding was not there it would be like 2000-3000 dollars in damage versus less than 500 dollars......i will be getting another one with cladding....my opinion...they are like butts...some just bigger than others..... lee

I can agree with you on that! The cladding saved me from being PO'd the other day at the gas pump. I opened my door right into one of those concrete islands with the sharp points on it. Had I had a WBH I would have had a giant dent in my door, instead I got away with it. The WBH has its nitch but personally they should have kept the AV front end and rear bumper that'd been a sweet ride! The silverado front end looks good on a silverado but its not an AV. No offence to those WBH owners, their still AVs and we love them all.

I don't even like the '03 Silverado front end on the Silverado. I will say the WBH has some serious DRL's though. Much more noticeable than the std Av. 'Specially when AMBER! (y)

Ok fokes later tonight I will be posting pics/scannings of the standard fetures from GM Autobook the program the dealerships use to price out vehicles I have highlighted the BODY HARDWARE, DARK CHARCOAL

YOU ONLY NEED TO BE IN THE BRUSH ONE TIME TO APPRECIATE THE CLADDING. I HOPE THEY DON'T DISCONTINUE THE CLADDING. I WOULD LIKE TO PURCHASE ANOTHER AV IN THE COMMING YEARS, BUT WILL BE DISCOURAGED WITH THE NO CLADDING OPTION.

I work at a Chevy Dealer, and the other day we dealer traded for a customer a black AV WBH. The guy that bought it put the 22in rims and the chrome rocker panel trim,,, and when he was done, that was a very sharp rig!! It ended up looking like how you see alot of the Tahoes and Suburbans being done. I, myself, am partial to the cladding,, in fact I bought a new 2003 black Z71 with cladding last week. But I do like the non-cladded also. To me they have a more refined look, although I like the tougher look of the cladding.
