I WAS LOOKING THROUGH THE SATURDAY AUTO SECTION AND SAW THAT TWO DEALERSHIPS HERE IN CHARLESTON, SC, WERE RUNNING ADDS FEATURING THE AVALANCHE WITH DEEP DISCOUNTS. ONE ADD SHOWED A SALE PRICE OF $25,990 (MSRP $32,270). I THOUGHT I GOT A PRETTY GOOD DEAL ON MINE ABOUT A MONTH AGO. I GOT A FORREST GREEN Z66 WITH LEATHER HEATED MEMORY SEATS AND THE ON STAR PCKG FOR $31,977 (MSRP WAS $35,500). CHEVY NEEDS TO DO SOME MORE ADVERTISING ON THIS VEHICLE. I DON'T WANT A FLASH IN THE PAN CONCEPT TRUCK, I WANTED A VEHICLE THAT'LL BE WORTH SOMETHING IF AND WHEN I DECIDE TO TRADE OR SELL. :C: DON'T GET ME WRONG, I LOVE THIS TRUCK BUT I WONDER WHETHER TRADING MY '00 TUNDRA WAS THE RIGHT THING TO DO. YOU SHOULD'VE SEEN THE CHEVY DEALER DROULING OVER THE TUNDRA. IT'S THE FIRST VEHICLE I EVER ACTUALLY GOT A LOT MORE FROM A DEALER THAN I OWED ON IT. BTW- I GUESS I NEED A NEW SCREEN/EMAIL NAME, HUH. HOPEFULLY, BETWEEN OUR GROUP AND CHEVY ADS WE CAN SELL OTHER PEOPLE ON WHY THIS WILL BE ONE OF THE BEST VEHICLES THEY'VE EVER OWNED. (y)

Up here in Mass. we have one dealer that is advertising 35 Z71's with leather bucket seats and roof racks for $28,000.00. Since I don't yet own an AV, this may be a great opportunity!!!! ;D

probably 2002 Av's. dealer wants to make room for the 2003's. A good deal is a good deal no matter what :D ;)

T-BOB THERE IS $1,000 DEALER CASH ON 90 DAY OLD UNITS+
$500 ON ALL AVYS, MAYBE MORE ON 4WD. AND $2002 OF COURSE. LOW INTEREST RATES...THE "02 AVY HAS MUCH MORE STANDARD EQUIPMENT THAN THE "03. THIS IS A GOOD
TIME TO BUY../

Always remember, these advertised prices may include every possible rebate and promotion available. i.e. GM Loyalty, new grad, $2002 rebate, dealer rebate, incentives etc. Chances that you qualify for every rebate and give back are slim. They just want to get you in the showroom and in for a test drive. After you fall in love with an AV, 'doesn't matter if you can really afford it. You'll probably buy it anyway. >:D

Truckman-

I'm sure you're right. They're looking to clear out the '02's. I really didn't know much about the truck when I drove into the dealership on a Saturday to just look around. The salesman was low pressure and basically said he'd give me the best price I'd find anywhere. Well, after the test drive I was almost hooked but I wondered about the price so I called my insurance co., USAA, and they gave me the price that I should expect to pay on the vehicle I was looking at with all the options and even they were amazed when we went over what my cost would be compared to what they'd finance or cover in event of a loss on that vehicle. They're a Fortune 500 company and I don't think I went wrong with the price, but I just hadn't seen any advertised prices as low as I had seen this weekend. Anyway, thanks to everyone who responded to my question and I hope you enjoy your rides as much as I enjoy mine.

You need to watch out on those "dealer ad units." An ad may say something like 43 Avalanches in Stock! And then below it it might say $27,999 - but then there is a tiny little letter or an asterik and then at the bottom of the ad is some tiny print that says the unit stock number and options on the $27,999 unit and you find out it's a stripped 2WD (which still isn't bad on the well equipped Av).

The other thing is folks are already placing orders for 2003 Avalanches, which will have a slightly reskinned exterior and a brand new interior - so dealers are going to want to get the 2002's off the lot.

As you get further in the year you should get a deeper discount because your hit in equity becomes larger when you roll it off the lot.

How do you go about finding all of the different dealer rebates that don't get advertised? When I bought mine I was all over the web finding dealer invoice but never saw any mention of rebates or incentives other than the $2002. I would sure like to find this stuff out for the next new vehicle purchase!

Schmelty is right. Here in Minnesota i went to a Chevy dealer in March and test drove an Av. I fell in love. He had a lot full of 'em, mostly Z71s. He ran my driver's license number and soc. sec. and discovered I have a heck of a good credit rating. He fell all over himself trying to get me to buy one. He offered me a Z71 with everything except leather, sunroof and Onstar for 26,999. I didn't care for any of the above so the price seemed pretty good to me. The MSRP sticker was 33K and change. The quoted price (the sales manager came out and wrote it down) was minus a steep Dealer's discount and the $2002. Not other tricky things that I had to qualify for.

So I then whipped out my GM Gold credit card and told him about the almost two grand of GM dollars I had accumulated over the years. I said to the sales manager, so let's deduct the two grand for the GM Gold card dollars. That brings the price down to UNDER 25 grand, right?

He should've seen him swallow. His eyes bugged out. He started stuttering, but had no choice but to agree.

I would've bought the truck, too, but when I drove it home and let the wife drive it she said it was sort of okay with her but it was damn big and she was too scared to back up out of a parking space.

I decided to wait to see if they'll put a reverse sensing system on the 2003s. But it's nice to negotiate with these people, get 'em to quote some nice low prices with all the discounts, etc. that you actually do qualify for and then whip out another two grand on your GM gold card. They don't seem to think of that one. :)

steelhead

I found out about the $1,000 for any AV built before 12/18/01 from the dealership,The dealership that I bought it from. ( they were honest about it - Unlike some other dealers that I went to) They also gave me the $500 dealer cash + the $2002. Also $769 in GM points

Also you might try the GM site and tell them you will be buying within the next couple of weeks and they may send you $1000 dollar coupon. ( thats what my brother did and he received the $1000 coupon within a week, that was about nine months ago. He tried the same thing a few weeks ago and no luck.) Maybe they keep track of that kind of thing in their data base. :B:
