Is It Supposed To Work Like That?? dealer Visit T

I am having my A/C fixed tomorrow. ?5th visit...but that's a different story. ?Was wondering if all the Av's work like this...

When the A/C vent control is all the way to the right ? (defrost mode)....
My rear A/C vent blow lots of air...decreasing the flow to the windshield...I have to close them to get full flow to the windshield....
Does yours do this??

Also...when in full defrost mode the A/C comes on but not the A/C light on the dash button..it comes on if I press it....how does yours work? Does it come on any time the system is in defrost mode ...or just when the button is pressed...?

A/C is suppose to come on, including the light when in Defrost mode.... GM (all of them with A/C) work like this. Also, when your in defrost mode all air is directed to the windshield.....

When in defrost mode it the light used to be on all the time...even if you hit the button....

Now the the A/C is on...but the light on the button goes on or off if you hit it...

Is your A/C light on all the time in defrost mode??

Yes its on all the time....during defrost mode...

I also, never shut off the A/C mode....

If you have the Computer controlled climate system the A/C will not come on when you put on the the Defrost Mode. Tech at the dealer said that the computer determines whether to turn on the compressor or not. It also states in the owners manual that the compressor might come on but not all the time. As far as the A/C just had the dealer replaced the clutch fan it failed at 34k don't know how but the air from the vents would never drop below 66 degrees now it's down to 42 degrees.

I also had the fan clutch replaced which greatly improved AC temp....

For the control problem....
Dealer nicely told me I might want to check vacum lines to see if one came off at the controls...I have an aftermarket radion and he would have to charge me...I'll check that and have them fix it if a line is not popped off

Hey the dealer said it's supposed to work like that.....
He said he checked another Avalanche...I'm skeptical
He said it's normal for the rear vents to blow air while in defrost mode..
Can some of you try it and let me know if your Avy does this....

I have a 2500 4x4 2002. Mine works the same as yours even the defrost air in the rear. I agree the climate control is different than the standard air and it's supposed to work that way.
