I finally picked up my bug deflector today and ti's the wrong one. :8: :7: :8: So, what I want to know is, should I drill the necessary holes in this one or take it back and get my money back?

Also, does anyone know the part# for the WBH Avalanche bug deflector?

take it back and get correct ...................

get ya a decal that says avalanche...and stick it on straight....so that means ya need to get a few beers in ya before applying it to deflector....

When I bought my Av the dealer gave me the wrong one...the right one I got the next day is for the '03 Silverado.

Does it say "Silverado" on it? ;)

I've got the same problem! Ordered mine on-line, using the part numbers on this web-site and on on GM's web-site, and paid a fortune for shipping. Went to install it yesterday and the holes don't match those on the hood. :E: :E: I wonder what the chances of the local dealer trading it out are? I guess I'll be calling today.

So do you know the correct part number for the 2003 WBH??

There is another thread here on this topic that says correct part # is 12498547. That, by the way, is the same part number for a Silverado hood protector.

The new one is installed. There were a couple of things that threw me off a little. First, there is no double-sided tape in the package. Second, the hardware that goes under the hood is different (different screws, different clips and added grommets). There was also no tape on the deflector itself. However, I took it out and road tested it up to a little over the posted speed limit >:D. I turned off the music to listen for any unusual noises (from the AV not cops). I noticed a slight whistle around 40-45mph. There was no noticeable vibration of the mirrors.

Did any of you have to remove the clips from the wrong deflector? I got the wrong one too, but did not discover it until after I had put the metal screw clips into the holes under the hood. So now I need to remove these clips, but they do not come out easy. I managed to get one out, but scratched the paint uder the hood and bent the hole in the process :8:! Also, in order to return this darn thing I need those clips out.

One more thing, for those of you thinking of ordering a deflector on-line, the shipping cost $35 which more than wiped out any "discounted" price savings. (My wife ordered this as a present.) And I have to pay to ship it back for the return. When I get the correct one, it will come from a local dealer.

I took paint off with all 4 :8: The correct ones are plastic and accomodate a larger screw. Ours is much easier to install though, because you can adjust postition. The double stick tape on the claddies prevents adjustment once it contacts their hood.

The one with the Avalanche logo had doublesided tape already installed on the deflector when I took it out of the box. Plus the stuff for the window. It also came with only four screws with the tape covering the center hole.

they must have changed what is in the box since I bought mine along long time ago in a galaxy far far away..... :2:

I'm confused a little. please help me. I bought the wrong one to for my WBH that has avalanche on it. Dealer won't take it back cuz i already installed it and managed to get it on one way or another. Which is fine for me... but that extra double-sided tape for the windshield, i am lost at....

Why is their tape for the windshield, and where does it go on the windshield if we used it. What purpose is this for, and why would tape come for the windshield when i got something for the front end for the hood?

Lost in Pa ???
