Ok I will take a gues here that you have two issues here that are not allowing you to look at the .pdf files. I clicked on them myself and they are working properly. First your Adobe may need to be updated as that is the most obvious reason why you are unable to view the files. Second is the possibility that something is causing a conflict with internet explorer and not allowing you to view the files. For that I suggest trying Google Chrome browser as it has a built in that will allow you to view and save the files within the browser. Hope these suggestions help.

Hey, i was just wondering, would you be willing to share the deminsions of the bigger of the two boxes?  I think i'm just going to go with one sub. i think that'll be good enough for me.

Has anyone looked at these

You talking about my box?

Yeah, I will. I will post it friday night, I am away from my truck and would like to make it as detailed as possible.

I do apologize for a month late reply, got busy with college and finals, but I will post right now. The dimensions are for the drivers side, for a 2002. Someone correct me if I am wrong but I think they change the metal bars under the seats for the 2003. Also I do have the padding under the seats, I have read that if you take it out you can gain 1/2 inch. Just some info if you would like to manipulate the design. You could more than likely fit a 10 in there if you would like, I went with 8's to keep it even on both sides.

Top is the space between the side of the box and where the support is, but note because of the seat its not a clean extension.
Bottom Is how tight it is for the back of the support of the seat, I literally had to squeeze it in with force.

Bottom here there is thread of a screw showing, so what I did was drill a hole (not all the way through) but enough so that the excess screw would go into the box and help anchor it in.

Now here is the scanned picture of my drawing. Any questions, let me know, I tried my best to include everything  you will need.

Hey thanks for all the detailed information!!  No worries on the delay, heck I haven't got a new head unit yet anyway!  I'll let you know when i do get it done, but it'll probably be a while.  Thanks again!

No problem, post a picture when your done, I'd like to see what you did. and what kind of head unit are you looking at? I went with a JVC double din off amazon, the shop had to do some cutting to get it in. I prefer double dins cause my mom and dads car both have touch screen radios, so that's why I got one.

Well,  I got two pairs of Alpine 6.5" speakers for a great price, and I'm pretty much set on getting an Alpine head unit, though i'm not sure which one yet.  Best Buy had one heavily discounted last week, but i slept on it now it's not on sale anymore. might have been a discontinued unit, doesn't matter to me, i'm just trying to do it on the cheap.  I'm really considering widening that box like your note said to get a 10" in there, since I'm only going to do one box.

Yeah, widen it, your best bet is to make a move box up out of card board. Making sure you keep in mind though that the wood is 1/2 inch thick. I made my mock box out of card board to make sure that it will fit properly, under my seats. also you don't have to waste wood and money.

I'm toying with converting the original design to  ported boxes. Any thoughts?

Is there enoug room for a ported box under the seats? I know they are bigger than sealed.

I have two Logitech and one Panasonic surround sound systems in the house. The subs on all three are ported and are about the same box volume ratio to the size of the sub as found in this design. That is what got me thinking about porting them as these small boxes produce so much bass.

I know when I was working at the Appliance/Electronics store before I got my Gov't job they also owned a car audio shop. The tech built me an all fiberglass box and carpeted it with a shallow mount 10 inch underneath. I am not going to be winning any bass comps, but it does get pretty good bass. I am too old for the crazy stuff anymore (at 33 lol) It sounds great with the Hertz speakers and tweets I put up front that are amped. Still running the bose in the rear. Great sound!

Aren't those speakers 6.5 inch subs though? I do not think that 6.5 inch will sound good in an avalanche...

Rochelle has a pair she got form DanV and they rock.

It also depends on the music you listen to. I listen to rap, they have a lot of lows. I don't think 6.5 can hit those lows.. Even some country songs hit lows.. What brand does she have? and are there pictures of the box/speakers

I would have to ask her. I installed them for her and played various artists including Rap and Country (she likes Country) and they were great. Now they don't hit as hard as my pair of Punch 8" granted but you would not know they were only sixes without looking.

Email sent. We will see if she has time to send a pic or two.

Hey, I've been looking at your sketch a lot closer, and I was thinking, in the section you have marked middle section, it seems like a 10" might fit there. Especially if I widened a little. What do you think?  OH and I did get a new head unit last week.  I got a Kenwood I can't remember the model, but I put it in over the weekend, so I'm gonna do that box now.  SO anyway, let me know what you think.  thanks!
