JEFF D SUB BOX SECRETS REVEALED

I ported mine last year and the sound is great.  But now I'm thinking of removing the subs and coating the entire interior with that gutter sealing spray and then make the ports optional. I'm thinking of using a 2" PVC pipe with an an cap thread. That way I can experiment with different configurations to see what works best with my current amps and crossover.  ???

That sounds cool. Let us know how it works out. I ended up going the center console stealthbox this time around. Awaiting its arrival this week.

i need to build one before summer hits, to damn hot in phx to be building boxes...

i want to see if i can modify to fit a JL Audio 10tw-d4.

I'm considering a 10" upgrade too. Ever since I put 3x 10" Kickers in my Camaro, I'm really starting to consider modifying the boxes or a whole new design.

Let us know if you end up selling the old ones.

I ended up using a Kicker Hideaway. It works pretty well & was certainly easier. I've debated about adding a 2nd one.

I was going to rebuild mine and go back to a total sealed box. Then a friend said to use some fiberglass resin and pour it inside along the seams to get a good seal. Sounds a lot easier than rebuilding them.

I added a 2nd one. Sounds great. Certainly not hitting like a pair of 12s, but doesn't effect how the Midgate works at all.

Hey, gang... Gonna 'Lazarus' up this thread again! I've read through this entire thread and found some AMAZING information. Thank you all for your input. I'm getting ready to finalize my subwoofer plans and I think the ideas floating around here are the best I've seen. I've got a couple CT-Sounds MESO-8-D2 subs coming in and hope a derivative of Steve D's design will get them thumping in my '07. Anyone have any updates since their installs from this thread? Any lessons learned to share?

I had a plan on my mind to build a resonator chamber box in the center and have the port of each sub box feed in from each side. Just haven't the time to get started. I don't have any amps mounted in between the subs. so could make it fairly large. Also toyed with the idea of making it a passive sub with a square shaped flex skin. Need to do some R&D to see if that would work.

Still working on the resonator box idea. Ran into a couple snags so design changes are still in play.
