I just got my door speakers changed. ?Went with kenwood dual mags from bestbuy. ?I got them to install it, I didn't get the chance to take not of it but I know now looking at what came out of the AV.

2 speakers are 8 ohms and 2 are 4 ohms. ?Which are for the front and which are for the rear. ?Also I replaced with all 4 ohms.

Also, I got a Rockford 200m 100w @ 4 ohm and 200w @ 2 ohm, my audiobahn is dual 6 ohm meaning i'll run it at 3 ohms together. ?Will this work with the amp?

Anyone Help?

Thanks

Andrew

ANH--------
the factory 8 ohm, where in the rear

Did you replace you HU
are you powering just the sub or door spkrs
which audiobahn do you have?

Sure the amp will be fine. The paralleled voice coils will yield 3 ohms as you said, and the amp is rated to run down to 2 ohm loads. You should have no problem at all.

Thanks guys, I know I can always count on you for help.

Well, the audiobahn sub is a 10" alum10x, 800w peak and like 350 rms.

The dualmags are great, I got the doors dynamatted at the same time I got the speakers changed. They sound awesome compared to the factory oem stuff. I'm still a little worried about the fact that the rear speakers are 8 ohms and my new dual mags are 4 ohms. Hope it doesn't mess up the head unit.

I'm keeping the factory head unit now because I don't want to mess with all the onstar stuff. Like I said previously, the stereo sound like a great aftermarket stereo with these dual mags. Just missing the bass.

The sound quality is better than my previous system in my 99 isuzu rodeo, which was
45w x 4 double din cass/cd
front door rockford components
rear clarion 2 ways
rockford 200m 200 watt
rockford 10" dvc xlc sub

I thought that sound good till I listened to what I have now. Amazing what a good set of speakers make. Clarity is awesome! The only thing missing is the bass. I'm getting the audiobahn box built this weekend, and wiring the amp too. Doing that myself.

I'm also thinking about putting more dynamat on my door, the driverside door was doubled dynamated by the installer. He thought i had bought 4 boxes of 2 door kits so he used a 2 door kit box for the driver door. Sounds great no rattles.

I do notice more noise now from the firewall. Probably because the dynamat cancelled all the noise from the doors. More tire noise and road noise really.

Thanks

Andrew

Are you running the factory HU thru the factory amp or did you do the amp bypass or rewire

According to Timcosco's research
the factory HU puts out decent power
It is the factory amp that is lacking

If you bypass the factory amp and go from the HU to the speakers, you should get a dramatic increase in sound quality
If you do this, I don't see why a RCA converter would'nt work for the amp

I can't quite read your sig
What wheels are on your AV-Caddy's??

Capexxxx,

Yes, I do have chrome cadi wheels on my AV.

Yes, I am using the factory head unit and factory amp. They sound pretty good. Just lacking the bass.

Let me know what you think. Also what is the best way to run low level output and what are the wire reference? I was reading the other post and got confused. Can't make out what he was saying. More of a visual person.

thank you

Is you AV 02 or 03 with Bose
Most people with the 02 have not gotten decent sound leaving the factory amp
I did not know, when they replaced the spkrs if they ran new wires as well

2 things of interest [if 02]
the factory amp does have a sub out channel
[though I don't know if anyone has gone direct to it or if they did and it didn't work]

Bypass the factory amp at the amp behind the glove box[ look for thread]
You should get sound improvement
and you may be able to add the lowlevelconv, in the same area
Or like most have done-replace the HU with one that has RCA outs
was your amp, just for the sub?
which audiobahn? new/old-- highexcursion? or flame?

Capexxx,

It's an 02.

The audiobahn I got last year and never use it because it was too big for the box I had for the rockford 10.

It's the chrome with the alum cone. alum10x. This sub is suppose to be one of the best subs made. True clear bass, not loud and muddy. The rockford was load but a little muddy.

As I stated before the clarity is great now. I don't have a problem there. It's the bass that i'm missing.

What are the wires for the sub? I might tie into that. Do you know what the exact wiring is on the pin connector? if so can you list them top to bottom, side by side. I don't want to cross any of the leads, (+&-) this will make the bass really muddy.

Thank You,

Andrew

Zimm,

The kenwood dual mags ran me $180 a pair. And yes the tweeters do angle up.

Capexxx

The rockford 200m is for the audiobahn sub only.

Thank You,

Andrew
