Kenwood UBZ-LH14 FRS Radio Question

What is the secret in getting the scan channel function to show scan on LCD? I did turn scan on in the menu and when I hold the up button for more than one second it just goes up one channel, beeps and the word scan never appears. Thanks for the help, this is a new radio and I want to make sure it is not defective.

I figured it out, you must select a CTCSS tone for channel scan to work.

The thing that bugs me is that you're only scanning the sub-channels of that particular channel. I figured Scan would be kinda fun for "eavesdropping". My assumption was that it would scan through all 14 of the main channels and stop when there was chatter. Not the case. It only scans through the sub-channels of, say, channel 6. Makes it easy to talk to your buddies if you know they're on channel 6, but if you don't know what channel they're on, you're out of luck.

Yep, I have 1 LH14 & 1 GR14. The GR14 will scan 1-14 primary or a select channels subs. The LH though has better range and clarity.
