Knock In Motor

I have an 03 1500 WBH. After its first oil change I heard a knock in the bottom of the motor. I took it to the dealer and they said the cap on the third bearing was loose. They said everything looked good and was in tolerance but having motor work done at 3000 miles doesn't make me happy. Anyone out there have anything similar?

That is the first I have ever heard of someone having a bad or loose bearing on the crank.......

Check out www.pistonslap.com. I've not had the problem on any of my GM motors, but apparently several have. What I find disturbing is that GM states that for our 5.3 engine, burning up to a quart of oil every 2200 miles is "normal". But I digress...

That is a shame.....and Gm might do something about it if you let the right person know that you are unhappy! Look for a GM customer satifaction phone number and give them a call. They might extend the warrany if you voice your concern!

Hope things work out ok.

I had oil consumption problems early on and had to go to another dealer and work through him to resolve the problem. If you stick with it.... they'll take care of you

Piston slap and a crank bearing going out are different
