Well...not much to say here but dam! Heading to work this AM when I met up with a deer. The only sad part of this is (besides the AV) that the deer was carrying 2 babies. None survived.

Four weeks to Niagara Falls, sure hope you get 'er fixed by then.

AV42M, glad you are ok!! The Av could be in a LOT worse shape as well...imagine if you have been driving a ricer!!

good luck getting insurance to cover it... the hood on his AV looks to be untouched..... :cautious:

Thanks for the comments guys . The keystone hood sounds like a good idea but how do I convince my insurance ???. From the looks of it, this is what I can see so far as stuff needing repair/replaced. Hood, Quarters, Full Grill, Headlight assemblies, Front Facia, Radiation and Tranny cooler and I imagine some supports in the front end. The funny thing is...I was almost gonna take the wifes Montana to work. If I hadda, I woulda been wearing a new Deer coat this morning  :p. Gotta  the Av though for it's ability to protect the driver but to also cream anything that gets in front of it >:D.

Hood is bowed and bent to one side. The pics dont show it though.

How much does a Keystone hood cost? If it's about the same as an OEM hood (and we all know how overpriced OEM stuff is), I don't think the insurance company will care.

Sorry for the Av, man, but at least you're OK.

Your body shop will do up a quote for factory items, then after the money is sent and they start the work you can swap out what ever parts you want!!! i have done this before, if the hood cost a little more, you just pay the dif yourself... If the shop wont do that, find another one... (y)

Sorry for you loss! Like others have said, I do not think the ins will care what you buy. They pay for the loss and you replace with parts of your choice but do let the body shop guys know what you want to do early.

Butch

Sorry about the AV, that stinks, and the poor deer, but the up side is you where not hurt.

Good luck with the repairs. Just so you know it took a month for my 2001 Silverado to get fixed up (I had $12,000 in repairs though, spun out and went into and over a gaurd rail and down into a ditch). Also, make sure the place replaces any aftermarkets with the SAME parts(ie. I had SS tube steps $525 a set and the repair place almost put the black cheaper ones on).
Why you should use 4x4 in bad weather
Good luck with it all.

Doug.... You pay the difference!!! Much less than the full $1360.00... Besides the OEM hood would need to be painted anyway!!!
