Lamps At Rear License Plate Marker Lights

Sure, they use the same 194 bulbs that are used in most of the interior. You need to reach up behind the bumber and they twist right out. I personally put 194 white LEDs in mine. Nice little effect.

openminds,

Did you also do the two map lights, driver and passenger? If so, are they 194s too?

If I remember right the map lights are not 194s. Not sure though. No, their not, well, maybe, hmm, no, definetly not.

openminds,
Did you replace the oem map light bulbs on your AV?

No, not yet. ;)

Here is the lighting I have changed.

Interior Lighting
1. Dome light - Blue LED Festoon Bulb
2. Front floor lights - Blue 194s
3. Door reflectors - Blue 194s
4. Instrument Cluster - Blue 194 LEDs (Requiring a little modding)
5. Balance of dash lights to be blue LED soon.

Exterior
1. Puddle Lights - Blue LED Festoon Bulbs
2. License Plate lights - White LED 194s
3. Front Turn Signals - Blue colored bulbs (For white)
4. Front turn signal corners - White LEDs
5. HID Low beams.

That's it and all. :)

Is there any particular reason you didn't do the maps? I'm wondering if white LEDs would be brighter than oems?

I got my white LED 194 bulbs yesterday from superbrightleds.com and installed at the license marker light locations. Last night I checked to see how they look and I am dissappointed that the light isnt enough to illuminate the license plate. I got the right bulbs, but they arent bright enough as the stock bulbs. Why is that?

The 194 LEDs work better as a spot beams, and the license bulbs are not pointed right at the plate. I was after the color, not the brightness. Besides, headlights from other cars behind you illuminate the plate just fine.

This is true. I do like the color of the leds, true white.

Ok, this is a way old topic/thread... but... when I went to the LED web link on this thread... it has a bunch of different led 194 bulbs.  Some of them have any where from a single to 4 or more leds.  Does anyone have any knowledge as to whether or not these leds w/ more bulbs will burn or do any damage to the lens or wiring of the map/dome/license plate/etc light areas?  I know they don't burn as hot, but would several of these do damage?  Thanks.

Answer: NO, they are much cooler.

But they are a shade long for the license plate lights socket. I tried.

which size have you all used for the map lights/dome lights/ lp lights... ?  there are a whole bunch on that site that are for 194... 2 leds, 4 leds, 6, etc...

The map, glove box lights can only fit the 4 leds. The lenses will ride on the leds.
Dome, floor and door panels can take larger. I'm using 4 and 6 leds in different locations.

Are you guys calling the exterior light under the side mirror teh Puddle light....what is the number...I couldn't find it in the book at checkers and it is burt out...

I have an 04, so do I have the floor lights... probably not... bean counters.  I do have the door lights though right?  I'm probably going to order a bunch of new led bulbs off the site on this thread.

Again, thanks for the info ..... a kind police officer stopped me on the way home from a Christmas party late at night last weekend ..... this is all he could come up with for the stop. Just a warning tho. My honey was the designated drinker that night.
