Mine is new so it is leak free, but I was curious if the leaks were related to age or design. I am talking about cabin leaks, not cargo.

I have no leaks in mine...not that I know of. It's an '02. I do have an issue with panel #3 bowing downward. Water collects on the rubber gasket and eventually drips down (or maybe it's falling down when I open the tailgate...but it's there so it's hard to tell).

I can only vote once...

But:
02 cladded no leaks
03 cladded no leaks
03 wbh no leaks

AND I LIVE IN THE LAND OF LEAKS!!! ;D

I have no leaks in my AV, even durring monsoon season.... cab was dry as a bone...

i had a cladded '02 that leaked inside of the bed all the time. it leaked behind the rear seat once. that one was my fault. midgate was not properly shut.
in the new '04 i have had no problems. knock on wood. looks like they put some thought into the idea this time.

I have not noticed any water on the top of the mat in the bed. It will stay dry in an all day or all night rain. I even slept in the AV with the mid-gate down on a scout trip where it rained all night. But that said I have notticed that UNDER the mat it does collect water. It is as if water is channeled underneath the mat to drain out.

So if you say you have a leak is it leaking on top of the mat?

My ('04 Z71 WBH) midgate leaks. :( Took it to the dealer and he said it was faulty weatherstripping at the midgate and they replaced it. Then I did a water test at home: With the midgate down and me sitting in the truck with a flashlight my husband got the water hose and GENTLY sprinkled the back window....well, I thought it was Niagra Falls in there...only took two seconds and the water was pouring over the "catch drain" as if it just got too full and had nowhere else to go. Have yet to figure out why but I will be taking it into the dealership and have them see if I have a faulty midgate, too...Will let you all know what happens.....

Almost 3 years and carpet got wet in cabin for the first time last month, my fault, didn't slam the midgate hard enough.

I don't live in the land of lotsa-rain, but my AV is dry in the cab and box.

We had a very good leak test this past weekend with the rain that went through south Louisiana. Happy to report no leaks at all.

Big Leaks again. Leaked everywhere when I first purchased. Took to dealer multiple times under warranty. Big rain this last weekend in Austin, both driver side and passenger side left side are full of water. Not leaking from mid gate. They fixed it under warranty, now at 60K no warranty I supposed I'll have to pay to get it fixed. Ah, I've got a Warranty Gold - NOT WORTH THE $1700 I paid for it. Besides, it didn't cover water leaks anyway. POS

03 cladded, 15K miles and no leaks.

I voted WBH leaks. My leak is in the cargo area. The water drips down from the rain gutter in the cargo panel onto the bed mat. I don't see where a WBH vs. a Cladded would make any difference in leaks or not. The cab, midgate and cargo panels are the same on both models the only difference is the front and rear bumpers design and the addition of the cladding around the lower part of the body panels, and I've never heard of a vehicle leaking at these areas.

'03 cladded leak-free in cab

minimal drips around tailgate corners in bed during very hard rain

2002 Chevy Avalanche Red in Color with a Leak in the passenger area that wets the carpet. ( attempts to get it fixed and she still leaks and we do have body cladding

I have a 2002 with no leaks.

My 04 does "leak" as well but it's more of a dribble than anything else. Leaks both at the midgate and at the tailgate. Leaks more at the tailgate but everything stays dry. I do notice that it's truely wet under the rubber mat though but the longterm tester in a mag. said the same thing. There has been some heavy rain the past few weeks so I was worried but since the carpet is dry, OK by me.

Cheers,
Con
