leavenworth run #2

I was there many years ago. I highly recommend this. It's a quaint tourist-version re-creation of a Bavarian town. Neat place to go. Wish I was out there now. Reminds me a bit of Solvang, CA.

this would be a fun cruise to do again if we do it in July we can make the full loop that Steelheadchaser was trying to make in June but it was still too snowy then. So lets maybe plan a time in July? Any thoughts? I am really free in the summer time being that school is out the only thing I have in the summer is work but I can usaly get out of that for a cruise ;D

Already on the radar for late June -- more to come -- but Lance we'll be doing the SHC loop again this time...snow pack isn't as bad as the year we went - that year there was record snowfall in the PNW...

Waiting for details...

We have been considering a Mt St Helens cruise in late June but would hold that off for the Levenworth cruise.

What a great way for the Seattle and Portland and Spokane and Boise groups to come together.... Levenworth wouldn't know what hit them!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D

Yes Redaval... we'd need a steak stop about 3 hours out ;D
We could come 84 to 97 and pick you up along the way!
With you're permission of course ;)
This would be good for E OR too

Whadaya think Seattle?
Whadaya think Boise?
Whadaya think Spokane?

Anyone else? Montana? NoCal? All are welcome!

Gee, I could get excited about this one

Sounds good to us... how does this look?

This sounds like a great summer time trip.

If we are just meeting in Leavenworth, and I am coming from Seattle, I would take US2. It is a much better cruise. It is a highway not a freeway. There is more scenery. And don't forget about Zeke's for Lunch.

Just my early $.02.

This will be a great chance to camp too. There are some great Campgrounds around Leavenworth. It is also not to far from Lake Chelan if anyone wants to make more of a Vacation out of it. Maybe that will draw more people from MT, and ID.

Hello everyone,

I'm in the Seattle area and I'd be up for the Levenworth run this summer, since I can't make the Tulip Fest.

I have a 2003 Black Av with "Cowgirl Up" mud flaps-I love my Truck! :)

Rochelle

There are a few of us from Seattle, Rochelle. What end of town are you in?

I'd try to come up it if it was "August-ish" I have a trip mid April, a GTG in June, and this one would fit before the Grandson has to get back to School...
Is the area nice that time of year or is it "scrappy"- buggy & hot?

Hello again,

I live in Lynnwood (near Hooters). If the Leavenworth plan will be in August, I can do the 28th????

Would anyone from Seattle area be interested in meeting at the Roy Rodeo, June 5th? There is plenty of free parking at the rodeo and you can camp right there. At night there is a street dance at the Old General Store Saloon.

It would be cool to see a bunch of Avi's parked together on the grass!

Just an idea... By the way, what does "GTG" stand for?

Cast a glance towards the Hooters parking lot as you drive by, Rochelle. You may just see Chief, 7, me or any combination of the above parked there from time to time.

GTG stands for Get Together. I think your Roy Rodeo sounds like a great idea. Could you tell us a bit more about it?

Chaser,
Where do you fish usually?
I usually fish with my Brother in Law up near Sultan, but he is moving, so I need to find somewhere else.

Rochelle,
GTG stand for Get together. Some sort of club cruise or meeting.
Are you in the Rodeo or jsut going to watch?

Chad

On the Sky, I usually fish between Lewis St. Bridge on up to Reiter. I haven't done much steelheading lately but that's about to change as I just finished putting together a 9w Spey outfit (Scott ARC/Bauer MX5/Rio Windcutter).

I also fish the Kalama and the Deshutes (Oregon). If I have a few days and there is any kind of hatch going on I try to head to Montana for trout.

Rochelle:

Roy Rodeo a great idea for a GTG. We try to get to it every year and the rodeos at the fairgrounds right here in Puyallup. Being a alumnus of Montana State I've still got rodeo in my blood!

The cruise and campout up to Skagit Valley was a lot of fun. For those who weren't able to make the campout, please try to make this one! The fun doesn't have to end when the sun goes down.

I am tossing a dart onto the calander.... how does August 7th-8th work?

Or would it be better to spill over into September for the Labor Day weekend of Sept 4th-6th? This way we could get a couple nights camping and the schedule could be less rushed feeling. I wish we could have stayed another night on the last cruise.

Any weekend we choose should be picked early enough to reserve group camping/hotel/motel spots.

pdxkevin,
Plus a note for PDX folks: I like the suggested routing for Leavenworth. We did a mapquest comparison between east out the gorge and north through Seattle via I-90. Was within 10 miles and 10 minutes so obviously out the gorge would be more scenic, etc.
Count us in as long as the trip doesn't slide into the 4th. of July weekend. We are leaving right after the 4th for Calgary and the Stampede. Anyone else headed for Calgary Stampede - 2004???
It runs July 9-18th. this year. Bob (with new ambers) & crew.

Great first post!

Bob & crew - we had a great time cruising up to Skagit Valley and sharing a camp spot with you. Very glad you were able to make the cruise.

I like the idea of cruising up the gorge to hwy 97 and meeting up with all the othergroups in Union Gap, WA.

Definately going to camp on this one, too. Hope we make it a three day weekend cruise. We could have a full day of laidback liesure exploring or lounging around the campground.

I will just meet the PDX Crew in Monroe, WA where the Seattle Crew Meet it is easyer for me to go I-84 to I-82 to I-90 but who nows I may just come to Portland I can't wait.

Rochelle I did not see your post earlyer Roy Rodeo sounds like fun I love Rodeo's I go to the Stock Show Rodeo here in LG every year.

I'm in for the gorge trip and an overnighter in Union Gap....

Would it be appropriate to converge on Redaval's steakhouse for dinner?
Maybe we could help support one of our own a bit in the process. ;D

An earlier date had been mentioned for this run.... June I think.... Would a later date be better?

Great to see you on board AVTRIPPER.... we've had a great time getting to know you and your family..... We'll have to SBucks soon ;D

come on down.....Ill get you all the info you need....hotel ect....place to eat....lol ;D ;D ;D ;Dsounds like fun....

Tonight I am going to Redaval's restaurant for dinner, so I will give you all a full review.

Update
I visited Jean's Cottage Inn, Redaval's restaurant. You better like beef if you come. They have it and alot of it. I wasn't up for a steak, so I had the Double Cheese Burger, and it was GREAT!
Fresh toasted bun, great meat, good cheese, and the lettuce was so fresh I was looking for the garden out back.
It isn't the Met Grill, but that's kind of the point. It is good food, at a super price. I only wish that I could have made it back before I had to leave Yakima.
It will be a perfect place for a club dinner.

If you are looking for camping in the Yakima/Union Gap area, Sportsman State Park is pretty nice. There are also a couple of Good Sam's type camp grounds in the area as well.

Does anyone have any ideas on places to camp in Levenworth?

What time's dinner.... we'll be there as quick as we can.... who's buyin' ;D ;D

Have a great time and we're looking forward to the good report ;D
