OK Seattle/Tacoma area Avalanches - it's time to start it up for 2003. What better way than to head over the pass to Leavenworth, Washington - our faux Bavarian village for some winter fun, shopping and good eats.

Meet Location: Park & Ride Lot at 160th off I-405
Meet Time: 9:30 AM - 10:00 AM
Destination: Leavenworth, Washington
Plan:

Leave the Park & Ride Lot at 160th off I-405 and head north to 522 in Woodinville to Monroe. For those who want to go off-roading and get VERY muddy and dirty there will be an optional parallel route along 522. For those who don't want to get dirty they can continue on to Monroe.

Regroup at the Monroe, Washington Wells Fargo Bank on US Highway 2 at 10:45 AM.

Head east on US Highway 2 over Stevens Pass and into Leavenworth. If you have a 2WD Avalanche you will be REQUIRED to carry tire chains. The only thing that will cancel this meet is if the pass is closed - otherwise we're rolling over regardless of weather.

Arrive in Leavenworth for lunch at King Ludwigs (really good eats) - beers and brats! Then it's off to do some shopping or sledding in town. Return at 4:00 PM - either as a group or independent.

So - WHO'S WITH ME! ;D

I should be able to make this one! ;D

I can't make 2/1, but I'm considering following ya'll back from National for a few days of Pacific NW fun - Wenatchee R, Pike Place Mkt, and North Cascades!

Dave you have to be sure to come to La Grande ;) I guess I will get to meet you at the National meet though

La Grande's near the Columbia, isn't it? Could go to Portland as part of this trip, miss the bridges, and could try to look up an old friend who might be in Vancouver, Wa now...

Not sure if I'll make this run with you guys! Going snowshoeing with the wife in Snoqualamie! Maybe next time though...have fun!!!

I could go to Portland I am about 4 hours east of Portland, OR

we're getting a little OT here Lance, so lets move this discussion over the the NM section... but to answer you, I have to go thru La Grande on 84 to get to Snoqualmie Pass or Portland, so... maybe I just crash in La Grande for the night ;D

I would like to make this one but I have to work that day  I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of any :3: wrecked ford :3: though.

Bummer you won't be there Stinky - was looking forward to seeing you! :6:

I will be able to see y'all in the P'n R on 160th. Just to meet up with you all. I have been spending too much of my time out of town on weekends lately...Chelan to be specific...so I can't make this trip. But, it will be good to meet the faces wth the names.

We ought to consider a weekend in Chelan sometime. On MLK weekend they always have a Fire and Ice festival. I know we could probably get the recs committee of Chelan to make us (CAFCNA) a part of the program.

Or maybe sometime in the summer?

;D

I am hoping to make it if one of my kids gets over the flu by tomorrow so we can go sledding, but she doesn't look so good right now.

Probably not much if any snow in Leavenworth - but the pass may have some places to sled. Weather should be cooler and clearer by tomorrow so may be new snow tonight and dry tomorrow.

Are you still meeting at the park and ride on 405 & 160th between 9:30 and 10:00?

Yes we are! I sure hope your little one gets better but if they aren't feeling well better of resting at home.

Ya - I'm not sure how much white stuff Leavenworth is going to have after this warm snap. Was almost 60 degrees this morning!

I'll see everyone around 9:45 AM today! ;D
