Has anyone looked at the PIAA Stratos Blue 6000k bulb? The are fairly new and come in the H-11 size. Offered at Powerbulbs and ARE NOT street legal per the site. Thinking about purchasing!!

I haven't tried them,my local law enforcement would stop you at first site. Absolutely no blue lights allowed on a non police vehicle.

I did an H10 conversion in my fogs and have been running a bulb w/ a light temperature of 6000K for 6ish years and over 100,000 miles.I have never been bothered at all.
I would question what makes the manufacturer claim they are not street legal. Could it be the lumage as opposed to the light temperature? or maybe it's just a CYA statement.

I checked out those bulbs on the PIAA website, and they only have a slight blueish tinge like all 6K lights. They are halogen bulbs that give off the look of HID 6K.

IMHO I think PIAA makes good bulbs, and they last a good amount of time.

I think it's a buy at your own risk statement.

Piaa has 2 websites one for the Europe Asian countries and they say it is because of the color

and one for North America  www.piaa.com

James I am also a fan of Piaa to the tune of 1,000 plus bucks, since I gave up on my other thread I have upgraded to 6,000 k LED Piaa in both Highs and Lows and Piaa HIDs in the bumper. They have no hint of blue in them

So I always listen to the manufacturer if they say not legal I would not buy them for normal headlight, Piaa usually makes a change to the bulbs to comply with the us rules and starts selling them for us.

James have you tried the PIAA LP570 if I find them for under 300 bucks I think I'll try a set, my problem is not deer any longer but Cows that my.
neighbors whom don't seem to know how to keep them behind their fence.

Since you're in farm land, I'd say, get a brushguard or bull bar and load it up with LED lightbars.

Check out Vision X Light Cannons, that put some serious light down range, you may not be able to move them does, but they'll definitely give you a heads up a lot farther than halogens do

Geesh James I'm a poor retiree those lights cost a fortune. Going to wait for a heck of a sell to get those. LOL

I thought you have a ranch down there in KY

I have installed the PIAA Stratos Blue 6000k bulbs and I must say I am impressed. Yes, there is a slight blueish tint within the bulb housing but the output is a great crisp white light. They really do look great and I am glad I purchased!! (y)

So I was curious how you got an aftermarket LED to fit in a 2nd Gen.  I looked and there was no space.  Now I realize how..... it is just a blue tinted halogen.  It may be a good bulb, but it's not an LED at all.  It's also not road legal FWIW.

Today I installed LED headlights I bought on Amazon and LED DRLs.

Stock halogen on the left. New LED on the right.

The light output is 5 times better than the halogens that we in it. I am amazed at the difference. I would recommend these to anyone. Next I have to find some LED fog lights to match the 6500k color.

OP, How are your LEDs holding up? Do they get hot enough to cause any damage to the housing?

Still as bright as when they were new! No housing damage and I can still hear the little fans spinning at the back of the bulbs. I have since moved from Minnesota to Illinois and have never been pulled over. One of the best purchases I have made for my truck.

Glad to hear it.  (y)

I'm replacing the headlight and turn signal assemblies in my 02' AV w/Cladding. Really like your LED setup. Will probably use the same headlight bulbs you purchased. Was wondering if you could share which switchbacks you used for your running lights/turn signals?

The PIAA site writes about a drop off in intensity with LEDs after they've been on for a while. Anyone running the Auxbeams or other brands notice that drop off?

I did my own research and determined there is no way an aftermarket LED with a heatsink is ever going to fit in a 2nd Gen Avalanche.  The low beams have a cross member behind them, about 1/2" away.  It blocks any room for an aftermarket bulb.  $15 halogen for me!

That's incorrect. For a second gen in the low beams you just need the bulbs with the flexible heat sink fins (it's like braided sleeving). I've got them in my 2008 Avalanche. I didn't even have to remove the bumper or fully remove the lights to replace them.
