I am thinking of installing an Amber LED bar in the tow hook area of my Av. ?That way I can do Got_Change's Reverse Filament Swap mod. ?Each bar costs about $10 and are 4 inches long. ?Take a look at this picture and tell me what you guys think(it's kind of rough but it gets my idea across).

Well, four inches is actually small considering the sizes of all of the lamps in the front. I want to do something similar, but I was thinking about either:

(1) at the base of the headlamps (a 12 inch bar would fit nicely)
(2) At the bottom of the upper grilles, right and left (15 inch fits)

I think that the locations that you are considering (at the top of the hook opening) is too low. The next thing is that there is no bumper protection there at all. Chances are that you are going to crush them. If you're not worried about protection, then I suggest at the top of those molded arches (the top of the panels that you're considering), at about 12 inches wide.

Well thanks guys for reminding me. ?I won't be using the tow hooks in the future . . . actually I plan I removing them. ?Why? you ask, because I plan to put in this bumper . . . .notice there are no holes for the tow hooks. ?Now it's back to the drawing board to see where I am to put those LED's

I just got this crazy idea . . . . what if I switch the wires from my parking lamps to my DRL's and my DRL's to my parking lamps . . . I will have my DRL's do my turn signaling HeHe

I was almost on the band wagon with ya there...(getting just the bumper) but just the bumper would leave a 4" gap on each side..it comes with the "wheel flares" however this would look kinda silly...not matching the rear. I've sent an email to see if they can make one with the gaps filled minus the flare.

Sweet mods StrobinAvalanche

I was just showing them the bumper I plan on getting the whole kit.

You might want to check local & state statutes on this before you do it. Some municipalities have strict restrictions on lighting - how many of what color can be on a front of a vehicle at any one time, etc.

You'd sure hate to make yourself a magnet for police intervention after going through the effort, better to know up front.

ANd for the old-timers, yes, blue-dots are technically illegal. While you'll get by with them on a '32 Ford, put them on a 98 Explorer and watch the blue lights follow you ;)
