LED wedge base bulbs

Good Find! Very Interesting Indeed.

I will monitor to see what the MOD-AHOLICS chime in to say about them.

I tried some different LED's in my taillights, they didn't reflect back into the reflector, only light was from the led's, took them out.

Not sure about that brand but, I do like the fact that they added sideways ponting LEDs to the "bulb". Since LED's have only about a 30 degree angle of light out of the tip, they are normally only visible from directly on but, the setup you are looking at will use the reflectors to scatter the light more...pretty steep price, though.

My experience:

My DRL's are back to amber bulbs because the LEDs would work for a few minutes then about half of them would flicker or just go out. They test fine out of the truck.

Latest troubleshooting idea: place an inline resistor with them to decrease the voltage drop thereby decreasing power across the LEDs and thus decreasing heat ...sounds good in theory but, haven't made that trip to Radio Shack, yet.

Plusses of LEDs: very long life, very low heat compared to bulbs(not burning DRL sockets even when running FT), true color since they only emit the frequency of light they are rated for unlike bulb fillaments(that makes them look great at night!)

Minus: will most likely not be as bright as bulbs during day(I have 19 LED clusters and even though they seem to burn my retinae when looking directly at them, for some reason at a distance, they just don't seem as noticeable as bulbs. That may be due to the fact mine don't utilize the reflectors ???).

I recommend you compare apples to apples or, in this case, lumens to lumens. If both bulbs and LEDs are rated to emit comparable lumens then, in that setup, they may be worth it.

Just my $.25 (way too lengthy to be $.02)

Has anyone tried these bulbs?

They seem pricey but led's are so bright. Just wondered if anyone has tried them. John

turned into linky thingy

I recall someone trying the LED bulbs in the taillights, but had problems with the cruise control after the install.... This was back in 2002, I believe.... Sorry, can't recall in more detail, those brain cells were already deleted.....
