No joke
I read the info he is selling it because the Tax season it going to hit him hard he said also he said that if you want to buy his AV he will spend the day with you and give you some survivor stuff
but again he does look frightening

Also here is a pic of his AV only it is a 2002 Sage Green North Face Edition he said it is not the one that was on the show he said the one on the show got torn up in Africa back country.

Hey, THANKS! I just bid on it and was the first bidder. Yea thats me BigMansClothes on eBay.

I read someplace ( a couple of months ago) that ETHAN from Survivor was trying to get rid of his too.

SJP,

Awesome tag! Great job! (y)

I like his comment "Ever wonder what would happen if a Cadillac collided with a Hummer?" :B:

just a quick comment...he thinks he has 16 rims but he has the northface edition and has 17 inch tires...that'd be an interesting site to see...i definately couldn't bid with a clear conscience now...i did try and win one of the north face editions that they had on displace at a local grocery store...but alas i had to go buy my own...and a block heater didn't make the final cut

Hey Pat, How did I miss that givaway?? what store was it?

Did Lex win this AV? I think I remember one of the contestants winning a truck. Then takeing a load of medicine and supplies to a hospital.

You remember correctly. It was a blue Z-71 loaded to the max - identical to the Avalanche I own. I would love to hear more about "how it got torn up in the bush."

The ebay ad states that his NFE is loaded with everything and cost over $50,000. I saw no mention in the description of $10,000 worth of non-factory goodies included. It looks to be bone stock.

Maybe he was figuring based on all the gas he purchased and those 3 oil changes and tax and tag and ....

I hope he comes to visit though.

Maybe he meant that winning that truck cost him coming in first or second place on Survivor (I think 2nd place prize was $50k).

Well,

Here's what I wrote to him, and his response. Too bad he has to sell it.

Lex,

this is an open invitation to join us at our website, we have over 5000 members and are still growing. maybe you'll want to keep the Avalanche!!

www.chevyavalanchefanclub.com

We even have a national meet planned for july in the black hills of SD

Hope you come visit us at the site and if not, good luck selling your Av.

Pics of my Av are at www.picturetrail.com/sjprowler

Good luck Bud.

Glenn

The Response,

Thanks Glenn,

Nice truck by the way...that sucker can really pull a
trailer eh? I do love my Av, but with tax time on my
ass, I can't really afford to keep it. it's a
sweeeeet truck though! My baby is a Gold 1970 Chevy
pickup truck...I'll never sell that one!

All my best and keep on truckin'

Lex

this demonstrates one of the "dirty little secrets" of winning prizes, especially expensive ones - you have to pay taxes on the prize, and the taxes are based on the MSRP assigned to the prize. So in Lex's case, you figure he's gotta pay taxes on a ~$40K of income, and that income likely pushed him into a higher tax bracket. This means he could have gone from the 15% to 28%, or maybe even as high as 36%. So he got this great truck, but come April he has to shell out more than 12K just to keep it. Depending on his finances (which have far more variables than we can discuss here), he figures he just can't keep it.

For me personally, I'd consider taking out loan to cover the taxes, using the Av as collateral. Especially now, where excellent interest rates are available even for used vehicles.

It's a shame you can't get this color on the Av anymore, I really like it.
You have excellent taste! ;D

Naw, that's pretty much what surfers from Santa Cruz look like!

HA! Couldn't pass that one up. But if you've been to SC you know what I mean. And yes, this is just humor, so don't go pinning a big stereotyping thing on me. :)

As for the $50K price tag, my guess is invoice on that thing new on a dealer lot in Santa Cruz would be at least that much--they were $43k here in Salem. He's probably talking about that whole "assessed value" crapola...

Yeah, you seem to get the award for the most flames for a post over the last few weeks.
They really went after you for the USA map breakdown, even our friends in the great white north got their feathers ruffeled over that one. ;)

People just gotta meet you and the Mrs., like we did, and then they would know you're just having fun like the rest of us.

Emiticons just don't cut it like face to face humor...

All in all, I think the CAFCNA family has a great sense of humor and we all like to show it off sometimes.

Well it seems another Survivor is looking to sell one of their prizes. Ethan Zohn winner of Survivor Africa is apparently selling his 2003 TNF Black AV that he won from the show. I don't recall him winning this, I remeber Lex winning one and selling his recently, but anyway...it's for sale on ebay and the price looks is getting up there for a fully loaded AV, wonder where the reserve price is set?
