Lift kits

not sure shock extenders would work on first gen since they have torsion bar suspension.

Look in this OFF ROAD LIFTS section and go back from when the truck first came out and what people used.

Also might find some for Suburban that might work as Avy is based on burb

It would help if we knew what were you trying to accomplish with your lift, just looks or serious off roading or somewhere in between.......
It also helps to have more info on your Av such does it have the air ride suspension found on an LTZ suspension etc or stock set up?

Had a 3" lift on my 02 Z71. Had shock extenders, torsion keys and spring lifts with Bilistein shocks. Looked sweet with 285/70/17s, read 32-33's. Light off-roading. Ride was fine. With the worn (stock, 150k+ miles) steering and suspension it was very "boatish", but fine otherwise. If you want looks to set apart from stock, 3in with 32/33s. That will also get you off-road with decent clearance, but don't get cocky. I do a little more aggressive off-roading with the truck, I opted for a Rough Country 6in lift on 35s. My truck only sees asphalt on the way to hunting/fishing locations. I put maybe 5-6k miles a year on its for what it worth.
