ok, I got some lift kit quotes and wanted to know if these sound ok or not.....

prices for the Avalanche lift kits.

Fabtech:

Price........$1450.00

RCD:

Price.........$1799.00

Rancho 5.5:

Price........$1599.00

These prices do not include shipping, and there is no tax. Install will be by local shop...

opinions???

I would go for the RCD. I've had bad luck with FabTech lifts in the past. Rancho makes a great lift, but for some reason they always end up about 1.5 to 2 inches shorter than they claim.

The only thing I'm not crazy about with the RCD, and I don't know if it's still true... someone please correct me on this if I'm wrong... is that you klose the factory skid plates on the Z71 with it. I'm sure the shop can put skid plates in, but it will be an extra cost I'm sure.

That just my .02 worth.

if you want another option check out Superlift. i have had mine installed for a little over a year now and no complantes. great ride and quality. it was around 1500 when i got it. any questions just let me know.

I will shoot off an e-mail and see what kind of price they will sell the superlift for.....

I am in deliberation as to wether or not to lift as I would like to be able to keep my Av in the garage, and I am wondering how these prices rate.... good, bad, otherwise..... I was told that if 2 or more were ordered the price would be able to go down more, but I only have 1 Av...LOL... I guess if these prices are good, could always try to do a group buy....

So are these the installed price?

no, just the kit. Kit price is from out of state company, hence why no tax.... local shops have quoted me around $600 for install.

I will have to pay for shipping, not sure how much this will be yet. But guessing that not paying sales tax will offset the shipping cost

I have priced out a few kits, and these prices seem very good to me..

Cannot wait for the wife to finish school.. Only thing keeping my av at it's factory height..

None of them should be more than $1500. $600 for install is an OK price. Don't forget alignment - if the $600 install includes that then it's a good price.

Go for the RCD at $1500

Good luck!

locally the best price I have been quoted is just over 1700 for the Fabtech.... I was quoted on the RCD and Rancho locally, bu cannot find where I wrote them down....

Talking with local shops the install is the same wether I buy the kit from them or not.... fabtech kit locally normally is 1900ish.... but they will lower the cost of the kit if they install it, to the price I said above..... I do know that the RCD cost more then the Fabtech locally as well.... again... need to find where I wrote this down.. fabtech price seems stuck in my mind... but RCD and Rancho I cannot remember off the top of my head.

Well you could always buy the kit elsewhere for less as long as you have a local shop that will give you a good price on install (even if you bring your own parts/kit).

$1500 should be the target price but if you get close to that you're still getting a good deal. The key is getting an experienced shop to do a high quality install. You don't want to be the shop's first time install (guinea pig).

Hmmm.... Actually I thought Rancho underrated their lifts. My Rancho 4" is actually closer to a 5.5 to 6" lift.

Those prices sound good/same as compared to the prices I got quoted from shops down here in N.O. Actually , yours may be a bit cheaper.

I'd go with the RCD only because it's been reccommended on here more than any other. But i'm pretty sure you can't go wrong with any of the ones mentioned in this thread. When I told the local shop down here I had gotten the Fabtech, they made it sound like I had gotten one of the better lifts.

Honestly, i was gunning for the RCD myself, but couldn't pass up the deal on this lift. Bought it from fellow CAFCNA'er (LiftedZ66) Brother hooked me up...$1485.00 (lift, labor and rubber) The lift was actually used for 6 months. Took it off his own truck.

But I have no complaints. Ride and handling feels about the same. It's just I can't keep a balance on the tires. I think my weights keep falling off from offroading. I noticed a strip of weights laying in the parking lot by my truck the day after i took her out in the thick.

Hey Mud, you getting 'em balanced using the Hunter GSP9700 machine (be sure you do)? You're probably doing this but make sure they/you put duct tape over the wheel weights to help keep them on. That should do the trick and end your balancing problems.

Dan, thanks for the advice about duct tape. I hadn't taken it for the GSP balance yet. I plan on doing it soon.

So a strip of duct tape across the weights coving it in whole will do the trick eh? I'll try that.

I called up a shop and they quoted me 15 bucks a wheel. Not bad, considering a 4x4 shop here said they charge 20 bucks a wheel but not using the GSP machine.

Dan,

What makes the Hunter machine the machine of choice? I'll have to try the duct tape thing as I have thrown weights before, but my tire company always rebalances them for me for free. Probably becuase I buy all my tires there.

I have the RCD 6" lift and with tires, rims, lift kit, and installation it only cost me about $3k....I got a really good deal. When you have the RCD kit installed you will lose the front skid plate. You can have one fabricated to fit but the last time I heard RCD was in the process of making a front skid plate for the AV. Like Magic said....have your tires road forced balanced....this is critical if you lift your AV as regular balancing will not sufice. It's a little pricey but it is well worth the money.

Cool... Thanks for the info on the skid plate Conway. (y)

just wondering, how many people would be interested in a group buy on a lift kit, (parts only) pending the price of course...?

Just wondering.......... ???

I just purchased a 2500 AV and am interested in the RCD lift also. Don't know if there is a difference between the half ton and the 3/4, but am interested in a group buy...but doesn't look like anyone else is.

I really don't think you'll get a price break for a "group buy" on a lift purchase. You might want to try but I don't think you'll see much of a price difference. I'll bet if you're a good negotiator you'll do as well by yourself as you would in a group.

Good luck.

As for the Hunter machine (sorry I didn't see your post), do a search on this site for Hunter GSP9700 and you should find the posts I put up on the machine. It'll tell you all about it. And you can always Google it and you'll find Hunter's Web site and you can read up on why the GSP9700 is the way to go.

Can't recommend it enough!

I concur with Dan....I just recently had mine Balanced with the GSP97000. This is the first time I had a good balance.

Keep in mind the price you pay for the kit will depend on what front and rear box kits you require. Standard shocks, AutoRide, and load leveling Avalanches all have slightly different kit prices because of the different components each vehicle requires. I've been trying to get in touch with the owner/operator of this site in hopes we (our business) can become a preferred vendor. Without providing prices I know we can offer a better deal than whats listed at the start of this thread. Shipping on these kits is a bunch because they are BIG and heavy and in some cases you can find a local dealer that'll match the price. Local dealers willing to work with you can be a huge asset in the long run... you'll start to get a better deal on other items because your local guy will appreciate the business. Saving $50.00 bucks now by buying it elsewhere might cost you more when you need an "adjustment" or require a repair and the local guy sticks it to you. My motto? Try to take good care of those that someday may take care of you and hope they return the favor.

What's the name of your company? What do you offer/sell? Where are you located?

As for being a "preferred vendor" I assume you'd need to advertise on this site for starters. Try getting ahold of one of the moderators or GandolphXX.
