Lift Rollover Risk And Ride Quality

i have a question for those with Z71s that are lifted:

1: how has it affected the ride quality...specifically, (how much does that depend on the tires you choose). give examples if you can.

2: how do you feel it has effected rollover risk? i know the Z71s have a softer suspension, could you tell any difference? does it feel noticably more top heavy?

i am looking to get an RCD 6 inch lift with BFG LT 295/75R16D 33.5" BFG all terrains on a Z71.

any input would be greatly appreciated!

Beanman,

The lift as far as I can tell has in no way affected the ride quality of the AV, Just as smooth as stock.

As far as rollover risk... anytime you raise the center of gravity of a heavy vehicle such as the AV the risk for rollover is going to increase. However having the larger/wider meats on the ground helps to alleviate some of this.

The RCD lift and BFG meats are great choices. Personally I went with the Rancho lift and the Pro Comp Mud Terrains.

The one great advantage to being lifted is the increased field of view you get from sitting higher than the rest of the crowd. A major plus in helping to react to road situations. Oh... and the off-road experience is much better >:D

The first five minutes after getting the AV back from the lift shop felt a little unconfortable. ?But after that, it was just plain fun. ?Now I don't notice a thing about being that high up. ?I've got the RCD lift with 35" tires. ?What I do notice is how many people start to pull out in front of me and quickly change their minds when they see the large AV. ?I did enjoy driving my wifes stock Yukon XL 4x4, but now driving the non-lifted XL feels like I'm driving an import. ?Also remember that the larger tires and rims put a wider footprint down. ?So while it might be 6" higher, it is also 4" wider. ?Not quite even, but it does help offset the lift. ?Granted if I get T-boned, I have a greater chance of rolling in the AV than the XL. ?But unless it's a Kenworth hitting me, he's not coming through my door - he's going underneath.

Ride is still excellent. Only picked up a few squeaks and groans, but even those might go away after the shop does the first checkup on the lift.

Sounds like ride quality is just fine!

obviously there will be a slightly increased rollover risk... but you are right about wider tires. Do you notice that it feels topheavy in tight turns?

any other opinions out there?

i am getting the lift for sure... i am just looking for opinions from those who have the lift.

any other drawbacks i am not thinking of?

Whats the average cost of getting an Av lifted (tires, rims etc.)? ?

LIft + labor $2400- 2700

Wheels/Tires - Depends on what you want I paid
$1600 for a set of 4

cost for me was arpox:
3400 for lift, labor, rims, and tires.

but i did get a deal and they nocked some prices down to some delays in ordering my stuff. So you probaly will be around 4000 for everything.

as for the lift i love it. i have a 6" Superlift and i am running 35 pro comp all terains. rides great (ride quality is still great), and gets great looks! the Av is a hole new vehicle once you get the lift!
