Lighted Avalanche Logo  on Third Brake Light

I mounted a cover over the third brake light by using the avalanche logo from the door cladding i replaced a while back. Has anybody found a third brake light cover that will light up"avalanche" when you hit the brakes.

Someone's selling stickers on eBay that go onto the 3rd brake light lens but there's no photo to show how it looks.

Anone buy one that you're willing to show us?

I like the mod alot and have been looking for one for quite awhile but haven't found it yet :(

But I will keep looking because I want one bad :)
 
:8: Do not by the 3rd brake light decal from ebay. I purchased one from a guy named stickerman50 on ebay and he never sent it. Many people got screwed by him, so I must say if you see the item, do not bid on it.
 
base, i cut the logo out of a door panel clad i changed because i gouged it it cost about 80 bucks. the idea is good but the application with the piece from the clad does not really light up enough. seems like a sign shop could make an avalanche logo SHINER maybe its a copyright or trademark thing? A lit up avalanche is a reminder to anybody behind you that your world is constantly changing it comes with the truck av truck that is!!!!!
 
I have checked between New Orleans and houston and no one has a brake light cover for the 3rd light. I saw the ones on ebay and emailed him and then called him to check and see if it was same font as used on logo. He said it was regular lettering, so i said in other words you can go to walmart and buy a pack of 1" letters and peel the ones off you need, He got quite and then said yeah and hung up.

I've seen those on eBay as well. I never pursued one though...glad to find out it would be a waste of time! Most of my eBay purchases have been Avalanche toys...much to my wife's dismay! :6: >:D

got_change - It would be cool to get a third brake light cover that said 'Got Change?'
 
Say... :0:...Couldn't our buddy... The Stripeman... come up with a quality, correctly lettered decal to go over the light?? or maybe attached to the inside of the lens to protect it from the elements? Just a thought ;) ! Are you listening Stripeman?

I passed onto Stripeman about the joke on ebay, seeling the regular type letters to fit on your third brake light. He said he was going to look into it. That was about 2 months ago, but seeing the thread on the cladding letters he has probably been pretty busy with us, plus his regular customers.
Hopefully he will look into it and come out with a decal that will fit the slot with the letters cut-out so as to when you hit the brakes it lights up AVALANCHE, of course with the proper font...........
 
zeeya2000 I just had a hunk of av cladding lying around and hated to waste a good name... the arc and tapering sides of 3rd light dont lend themselves well to tha avs distinctive logo spelling i think it would have to bee an overlay of the clad cutout for the light mot a decal on the light.. some kind of molded plastic insert. I have done mods, that one cost me 60 bucks, but 50 would cost 15 bucks.. I guess thats a mod.. but somehow the whole av mystique, the REASON TO AV. is the fact that an av is, from chevy, thank you, a factory mod vehicle got change was the beggining of a new era in vehicles that change even their owners way of thinking........ the AV is FOR ME

Surely this could be done with the template that was posted in the coloured letters thread? You could just scale it to the correct size on the office photocopier and then cut the logo out of some weatherproof vinyl.

I made the mistake..total piece of pooop!!
about 1/2 inch tall and about 4 inches long.
You can't even see it!!

Im bouncing around in some of my old posts, to see if anybody has new ideas!

i see the polished metal 3rd light overlay, on a lot of trucks, in all types of outlines, bowtie, tribal, but noting for av yet!.

my plastic, cladding logo is a tidbit crude, but is the only one i ever saw.

someday, somebody will make the nice 3rd brake light cover, and a bunch of avrs will pick one up.

A n avr, from iowa was down here for the football game, and we were just talking about av 3rd brake light.....kr00g.

I thought of asking chevy dealer to save any old clad, with av logo on it. hate to see a good name go to waste!!

I guess you saw picture, the light holes, are a little high. 18 wheelers, must be able to read the avalanche name very clearly!!

maybe a cafcna member, has a plastic molding machine, but i think you need a "liscense " from chevy to reproduce logo

i cut mine from an old drivers door clad, heated it up on the barbecue grill, and kinda formed it over a piece of pipe. then drilled out the letters.. just for av mod of it!!!
 
When I attended the Memphis cruise I won the brake light decal. I forgot who makes it....you can IM Edward_K...he can tell you. I mounted the sticker yesterday but forgot to upload the pics to my computer. I will get the pics on here ASAP! BTW....it looks awesome!
 
I am interested in seeing how readable Avalanche is at night. The high-mount brake light is not large by any means and I would fear that a decal applied to it may look nice up close, but from a car's length away might be unreadable. Of course, this might just be my nearsightedness talking.

I dont know about "car length" away but when I finished I had my dad step on the brake and I stood a good distance away and could still make out the avalanche logo. I was very impressed with it.....I did have to do a little trimming with my exacto knife but well worth the trouble. All in all it took me about 20 minutes.
