Getting ready to do it!
Between new 2003 and 2004. Color is the main hang up. Wife likes the new Dark Blue. I can live with the 03 Arrival Blue. Now is where I need you: Which is better? What are the pros and cons on the Avs. Wife and I, 2 year old son, 9 year old daughter. box size is all right. I guess I'm mainly asking about mechanical problems, recalls, comfort problems, etc. Your help is greatly appreciated.

... the dark blue is a B E A utiful color... I have the indigo blue and although it shows dirt... it shines up really nice

The new blue is very nice and quite deep. A lot like SOM. It looks different depending on the light. The harderst part is really over, you know you're gonna get an AV!

As an Indigo Blue driver I suggest you go with the Arrival Blue if you are getting Cladded and the Dark Blue if you are going Naked(WBH= No cladding). As for deciding - you have already made the two best choices. You chose the Avalanche, and found this great club to help you out.

Get a nice comfortable chair for you and the wife and take your time going through this site. Any Avalanche question you can possiblly think of has been asked here at least once, maybe twice . Check in the feedback section for the thread that talks about the club helping prospective drivers take the plunge and get this AWESOME vehicle.

Congrats on choosing the AV! The 2004 Blue is a VERY pretty color.

Since I am getting ready to take my 2003 in for the "infamous" steering box problem (now bellowing like a cow on occasion when turning the steering wheel at low speed ), after just having had the drive shaft changed out to eliminate the "infamous" rear end whine, I would go for the 2004 in hopes that those problems wouldn't be present in the 2004.

Also, the engine tune on the 2004 is supposed to be just about perfect. Not much need to buy a programmer and change things, that is unless you plan to do lots of mods related to exhaust and tires and such.

Only mod you would need to make right off would be Amber DRL's. Will keep your AV from getting tagged a bunch by CAFCNA members!!

Anyway, go for the 2004. Lots of dealer incentives and discounts on packages now through January. You can probably get a sweet deal on one right now!!

Welcome to the club and be sure and post some pics of your new AV when you get it! Guys like Yak have to have those pics!!!

the question is are you willing to pay more for less? ... what I mean is on the 04 some options where taken away .... pass. cargo light ... puddle lights in the rear doors on the 04 .... can't remember the rest ....

If those are no big deal to you then go for the '04 ... it would be worth more in the long run than the '03 if for some reason you had to sell it in two or three years .....

Not sure on the big difference in the blue color from 03 to 04 ... I think I saw one 04 and the blue was brighter then the 03 blue .... and I liked it ...

It all boils down to what most people here say: "If you like it, buy it!" ....

If you can wait, get the '05 ... I hear they are putting a Nav. system in it ..... man would I love to have that one .... that will be a mod to try ... 05 nav. system in an 03 Av. .....
