As far as midgate operation....the round latches are nothing more than holders for the window and have nothing to do with midgate operation..

Further here is no separate actuator that checks to see if the midgate is down other than the spring loaded button in the window channel that pops up when the glass is removed.....removing the window is what signals the top cross bar whether the midgate is up or down......if the window is in, the bar remains in position and only the gate panel drops....if the window is removed the bar remains attached to top of the midgate panel and both are dropped together. If the midgate is already down and then the window is removed the spring loaded center button that checks to see if the window is in, is the safety device and what keeps the bar from releasing or not releasing if you turn the midgate drop lever. And that's a real heavy bar indeed once released....I just had to play with it........I first turned the lever and dropped the midgate with the window installed.....then removed the window........but once the window was out and the center button inside the bar is raised if you (AND I DO NOT ADVISE ANYONE TO DO IT!!!!!) experiment and turn the lever again to drop the already dropped midgate .........AND I REPEAT DON'T TRY IT!!!!!!......Because if you do, it will drop the 70 lb. or so bar in your lap or worse on something else....and then what a pain in the ass to hold the bar, turn the lever all at the same time while trying to re-engage both locking strikers on the ends of the bar onto the chassis striker plates to get it to lock in again.

Good information, Thomcat.

Thanks for taking one for the team!

This is good information to know.  I had almost attempted the same thing when I bought my 07, but never really found a good time to look more closely on how it works.  Have have thought about testing it out a few times since, but there is always something more important to do.

Thanks for sharing.  It's always good to learn new things without going through the hard knocks of plying with it.

So I wish I would have read though this thread about 9 or 10 months ago, not that it would have mattered. I have always thought about how cool it would be if the mid gate would drop but have the rear window in place. Turns out, as most of you know, that you can.  I never had a need to test it, it was just a wish. So while being extremely cheerful that I got my wish granted, I feel like a dunce for not knowing it earlier.

Pretty sure it's on all Avy's, but, driving it at night the instrument cluster with the lights on (obviously) i just noticed that wherever the gauge needles are there is a red dot that goes around the outer edge

I've seen it.......he red dot is the reflection of the red needle in the chrome trim ring......not with the Z71 which has a different cluster face.

Noticed on  my '12 and '13 the dash instrument lights are always on even in the daytime......not just with the headlights or parking lights....in the '07 they only went on when the headlights/parking lamps were lit..you can tell when the headlights are on by looking at the CD & or DVD lights in the corners of the slots where you insert the disk which only go on when the parking/headlights are lit (also if you have the factory NAV system the screen switches from day to night mode if the auto headlamps turn on due to darkness.

I have that and i'm driving a 08 Z71

The rear back up sensor "beep" comes from the console now in 2012 and 2013.  USed to be from the radio so the radio volume went down when beeping.

Dont know why the change, for a safety feature, Im suprised they moved it like that.  Sometimes I like to "rock and roll" and dont hear the beep.  Although Im careful backing up anyway, but still

I havent driven an 07+ av but i know my moms denali (07) when you just slightly moved turn signal lever it flashes the signal three times for lane changes ... i wish my 03 had that :(

With tow/haul mode it flashes for 7 seconds.  My 2011 Cruze does the same (minus the tow/haul mode lol).

I noticed when I fire a massive stinky fart into the leather seat of my '07, oddly the smell "puffs" out after I let the truck sit for 2-3 days before driving it again....... kind of like a delayed "hot box" to myself  (n) :beating:

As far as I have seen, only the LTZ has the cooled/ventilated seats. The controls for which are on the door, right above the heated seats button.

Ya learn somethin' new every day.

To start I will admit I haven't read all 17 pages of this thread, so maybe there's been discussion already, but it's still a wonderment to me.

I got my '13 LTZ in December and haven't figured out all the whiz-bang things yet...............hasn't been enough of a priority.  It's quite a step up from my '09 LT (though compared to a lot of other trucks well equipped) that had no options on the window sticker.

So tonight I picked up a couple complete early '50s Ford flathead V8 engines, probably about 11-1200#, and due to the kind of loading equipment the guy I bought them from has it's almost all behind the axle.  She squatted a bit, though not as much as the '09 did with similar loads.  Drove home, pulled in the garage, and as I'm walking away I hear a hissing sound from the back of the rig, and then I see her squat just a bit.  Sum a da gun..................it's got automatic load leveling!!  Might have to read up on that now.  Wonder how that will get along with my Equal-i-zer hitch setup when I get around to towing?

Found out this morning your blue tooth phone stays connected even after turning off the truck, removing the key and opening the door.  I thought it would disconnect since the radio automatically shuts off with the door opening.  Usualy I press the button to disconnect but I didnt this morning for some reason

You're all correct, the Z71 shows the "red dot" needle reflection in the cluster at night......hadn't noticed it during the day.........been two months and this was the first time I drove it at night, actually first time I drove it in a month, didn't want to crap both vehicles with all the salt residue on the roads that gets pissed all over the paint and undercarriage with the lightest rain....and the battery still started it.

My '07 LTZ shows the needle reflection off the chrome trim. It's not a feature, it just so happens that the needle acrylic transfers the light out the end bright enough to reflect.

Well....after over five years with this truck I found out today turning on the front defroster dramatically increases the rainsense wiper sensitivity. Discovered it during cold snowstorm that was icing the windshield on the highway.

Sorry if this one has been mentioned before - I just discovered this.

I was unloading the truck, and closed the rear passenger door, but not hard enough.  It locked - or latched - but was a little ajar.  I noticed when I did this, but I still had stuff to unload, so I just kept at it.

When I was all finished, I pushed the "lock" control on the key fob.  I heard the all the door lock engage, but I did not get the light blink.  That's funny, I thought...  I went over that passenger door and shut it properly, and when I pushed the "lock" control again, I got the sound of the door locks AND the light flash.

So, when you remote lock the doors, it would seem that the truck is not only locking the doors, but checking to make sure the doors are properly closed as well.  Very slick.

2012 Z71

I know mine will ding three times if one of the doors if open then lock after a couple seconds if one of the doors is open or ajar

2003 z71

If you start the truck with the remote start and pop the hood before putting the key in the ignition the engine shuts off. Found this out when I went to refill the washer tank.
