Little known things you found out about your AV features! Please Contribute ...

Found this out yesterday - when you connect a call via Bluetooth, if your A/C is on full blast, the truck will lower the fan speed while you are on the call, and kick it back up after you hang up. Did not do this on my 2011 LS with manual A/C. Makes it a lot easier to hear your call...

First time that happened to me I got an incoming call. Scared me as I thought something on my truck died since the music stopped and the fans died.

so do the door latches on the front doors if you have the first generation av  (y)

Gonna try these tonight... thanks for the tips!!!

On 2007 and up (not sure about older ones) you can disable stabiliTrack by pushing and holding the traction control button for 5 seconds until "StabiliTrack off" message appears on your DIC screen. Please enjoy your unstable truck responsibly...

I like that feature except that you have to have the more expensive "Directions & Connections" package. I'll enjoy it until my complimentary sub runs out...

I have the basic OnStar package...and have used the phone app to send directions to my car.

I also have the basic OnStar package, and the Nav portion of the app is blocked (Gives me an option to call for an upgrade), unless I pay for the extra directions service from onstar.  Dumb if you ask me

why does it look like I have a camera in my rear view mirror.  07 LT3 Z71.  It does have the nav and backup camera.

I never owned a older AV, but compared to my 2000 Sierra there was a definite "enhancement"

Instead of phillips head screws holding the airbox lid down, they used Torx head.  :E:
There I was with a new filter walking out to change it (since I doubt the dealer would) what do I see....

Also its been mentioned above about the DIC displaying V4 mode... For me at least, it almost never goes into v4 mode when the cruise control is set over 75 mph.

Oh I forgot... a shower feature. When I have the sunroof open and am going less then about 30, the supplemental nozzle mounted in the cowl gets washer fluid above the height of the roof.

I think you need to turn on the display on the mirror and it will show you the temp and compass heading if you are talking about the little black box on the right of the mirror.

Like a camera lens? or camera display?
Lens could be something to do with auto dimming?
Display could be that they use the same mirror regardless if the backup camera shows up in your nav screen or in your mirror like us non-nav people.

Looks like a lens.  directly in the top center of the mirror.  AutoDimming is probably correct.

I spoke too soon...mine is now blocked also.Still...not worth it too upgrade,at least for me.

I thought after so many pages already, that I, a new AV owner, surely wouldn't have anything to add. However, I think I do! I noticed that the egresses middle of the armrest on my '08 is just slightly non-square, meaning that a coffee cup can fit in there snugly if pushed forward. It's not a huge deal, but it is a convenient little known thing I found out about my AV.

Lol, I'm gonna be  if someone already found that and posted it. Thunder stealers!

I use that app all the time and mine does not stay active.and the oly time I need the pin is when starting or and unlocking doors....if I want an upgraded or current reading of fuel and tires ect I have to select the white screen to update or it gives last reading...I also bought 60minutes of there phone time that runs thru satellite phones as when we travel thru mont. and wy ect to az we lose Verizon on occasion..jeff

not quite..

you have to enter a PIN number (the one associated with your OnStar Account) anytime you use the Lock/Unlock/Remote Start Feature from the phone..

and the reason for the 1.5 minute delay, is you are sending these commands thru a cellular phone network.  you aren't sending them directly to the car via an RF remote..  the app sends the command thru your providers data network, to the onstar server, to the car via the onstar cellular data connection..

and you get charged for the data connection from your provider if you don't have an unlimited data plan, so FYI..  it ain't free, if you keep the app active on your phone it constantly syncs data from the car to keep the fuel level gauge, tire pressure, mileage, fuel range, oil life etc up to date., I've seen close to 800mb of data transfer from the OnStar app in March leaving the app active, that and it kills your phones battery quick..

So there I was:

Waiting in the driveway for my wife (no, that's not something I didn't know  :D) and listening to the radio with the engine not running.

All of a sudden,  there's a DING, DING, DING and a message "Battery low - Start Engine" appears on the gage cluster.

Who knew?

It started right up but it looks like the battery is on it's last legs.  :needhug:  A 60 mile drive didn't change the voltmeter from a steady 15 volt reading.

I got that too the other day hauling water, left the radio on while waiting outside, maybe takes 5 minutes to fill the tank, and I got the message after a couple minutes.  Its only a 1.5 year old battery, so I think its just  a default message I think.

Does anyone else have a round Projected image on the ground under the drivers door when you use the remote to unlock it, the image says Chevrolet on a blue background it appears to come out of the bottom of the drivers side inside door trim but only when you use the remote to unlock the vehicle then open the drivers door. This is my first AV... technically Chevy truck so don't know if this is a unique option or all of them have it. If unique I will post pics when I'm able.

Nope, mine are the same as yours (mistaken about the description). Don't know when they were installed on mine (bought used) but if it was factory installed mine are still holding up good, as far as I can tell.  :D

Found out yesterday that the starter is disabled when you use the command start (thank god)  Just the usualy routine, maybe me not paying attention, walking to my truck from work, start it, get it, put some stuff down, put in the key and then of course crank it like I was going to start it.  No starter grind.

Unlike my old truck where I did it once in awhile, that grind would wake any car guy from the dead
