My Z66 is equipped with LLS, but when I put 700.lbs of tile in the back, it sure didn't level out well. My question is, aren't you suppose to hear some sort of pump coming on once the rear drops or sags? My friend has an Envoy and when we sit in the back, you can hear the pump leveling out the ride.

No pump....for shocks...

They level out as you drive by using the up and down motion of shock to pump of pressure inside and level out truck....they are not an active load leveling but reactive....

The owners manual tells you that you have to go X number of miles to get leveled out. Mine seems to take a couple of miles. I would imagine it also depends on how bumpy the road is...

When people get into the back of my EXT, you can see it actually lift very slowly. First my brother-in-law noticed it, then I did in my rear view mirror while watching a reference point move lower. I don't hear any sound nor feel anything out of the ordinary when it's doing this.

Hey Horacio, I sure hope you did not buy a Z66 for the load leveling shock system. Sounds good in description, but actually I think it sucks when you think of the principle and I think it is a bad thing GM did as a come-on to get people to buy the Z66. I bought the Z66 mostly for the locking differential and the rubber floor mats that came with the option. In theory shocks are to control bounce and hold the tires to the pavement, NOT CARRY WEIGHT. Springs or Torsion Bars carry weight, not shocks. If you give it much thought, think about what holds a shock in place. A single bolt on the bottom and the top of the shock, therefore you are trusting all that weight on either of the 2 bolts. Either of the 2 bolts break, the load is going to fall onto the springs anyway. Just not trustworthy to me. The Envoy uses an air bag system that works in conjunction with the springs. That is a real supporting system that I would trust up until the airbags and lines became dryrotted.
