Hello,

I have been slowly making progress sending CAFCNA material to dealerships in the surrounding area and, learning from that, I am about to start contacting dealerships throughout Canada and Alaska. The goal is not necessarily to get financial or material backing from them, or even discounts on products and services - though this will be asked - but to get more members in this region through customer education.

I need to know what dealerships everyone knows and recommends in their areas, especially Alaska and Eastern Canada. Hopefully most will have web pages, making contact easier. (I believe most do, now.) Contact information would be great, but I am happy to go on just dealership names. :)

I will keep everyone informed of my progress. :)

I am working a local dealership in Burlington Ontario, specifically looking for them to become an Event Sponsor for the Niagara Falls GTG. Things are looking fairly promising right now, I'm just waitimg for MrBill to pass me some materials which I can in turn pass to the dealership early in March.

Here is the url to their web page, which does have a button that takes you to "Contacts"

I will be visiting the dealer on Feb 23, getting a GM Approved Remote Start installed. Do let me know if perhaps I can help with a "personal touch"

I hope that things work out regarding sponsorship. We have heard whisperings of similar things from three dealerships here in Edmonton but none of them have actually ponied up and amounted to anything. But we will see. Saying, "Well _this_ dealership is doing it!" sometimes works, but sometimes they go, "Why should we bother, then?" and feel that only one sponsor per city can make it. And perhaps that is true. But I think it is worth investigating.

I do not want to nose around too much with your dealership if you are working with them at the moment. I might ask them a few questions to see where they stand and then take it from there.

Thanks for your response. :) I'm hoping to hear from others, still.

There is a dealership in Southern Ontario I would like to recommend, Falls Chev/Olds. You can contact them at
http://www.fallschev.com/ . They have expressed great interest in sponsoring The US/CAN GTG in June, and I believe they will be on board. They are a fairly new dealership to the area and I am sure they would appreciate any input you would have to offer.

Dealerships in Ontario have juristictions, they are forbidden by GM Canada to advertise outside of their set juristiction. GM in the Falls that Darcar is speaking of can be the only dealership whos name can be displayed during our event, that is without causing a huge uproar. My dealer is attending our event as well as some of the sales team, Im sure others will as well.
I am certainly not against uproars, but, next year we may need some of these people again. This year will be financially trying for us, but it is a stepping stone in the long term goal of community support.
I think that if we gather support from our own dealerships we can benifit them as well by remaing true to our local dealerships. For example, I will promote my dealership the same way they promote me, if they are not willing to help and say Hamilton is, well, I still probally won't buy my cars in Hamilton, but when the topic of cars comes up, as it always does then Hamilton will be the topic of my conversation.
As a business it is probally very difficult for them to cut a cheque knowing the money is going to be used to break a policy, but donating shirts, hats and stuff like that for prizes sure couldn't hurt.

pyd, wow, I wasn't aware of that tight of a policy :6:

Oh well, I gotta assume that my dealership here in Burlington is aware of those regulations. Hey, if they pulled up in their dealership van, sounds like that in itself may be borderline to advertising (they could always say their favorite customer had called them for a Service Call (y) ).

The idea of hats, etc, sounds good. It'll be interesting to see how this develops. Absolutely we need to preserve these multiple dealer relationships for future events.

I am already committed to keeping MrBill updated with all progress with my local dealer.
