I've had my billit door on for a year, I like it.  This one is the brushed.

Too bad they don't make a cladded one

I believe they are the same for both cladded and wbh, but if you mean actually cladding on the door itself then yeah you're outta luck

That looks great slick...I think replacing the fuel door is better than replacing the fuel cap...

if things get crazy enough i might do both

Those billet fuel doors (i have one) are too easy to remove for an enterprising thief. I'd like to see a kit to retro-fit the factory door to lock. Has anyone seen one yet?

Ok, just actually LOOKED at my fuel door, adding a cabinet lock such as found here: http://www.eastloc.com/camlock1.htm
appears to be very easy.

They are both the same for gas caps - cladded and WBH.

My issue with the aluminum gas doors is that the indentation for the old door's handle remains in the body and just looks lost there.

I'd end up having to weld in a patch and reshape that area, but that's just me.  :E:

I have been looking for the billit one where the finger thingy still works.

I know that there out there just not who makes them?

Keep in mind that although these look nice and the lock is a bit easier to work than the gas cap one, an enterprising thief with a large flat screwdriver or the like can do a bit of damage and may still get your gas.

The locking type gas cap can be defeated with a hammer & nail. or screwdriver & a deck screw.

So the toughest lid may save your fuel, but the deductable on your insurance may be a bit more than a tank of gas just to repair the damage by their attempt, whether they have success getting your gas or not.

Alarm switch in the fuel door mod maybe? `Wouldn't do much good if you're not around to hear that.

a switch near the gas, good Idea? -- would spark from contact pose a problem? maybe not, but I hate the what ifs...

Use a mag reed switch (sealed); one from a home burglar alarm system. A Radio Shack item.

any info on locking gas cap for 04 Avalanche WBH :help:

Yes...

I have been waiting too...

I picked it up last week (9/2)

GM Part Number is 10326376

Seems to working just fine, with NO engine code/light this time !!!

The first one I bought back when I originally got my AV did not work.
The part number said it was good up to 2003 but I figured that since it was only January 04 at the time that they had not updated the part number to reflect '04.
I was wrong and it gave me an engine code/light.
I put the Non-Locking back on and it cleared after driving it for about an hour.

As I said before, the NEW one (part number above) works just fine.

Fuel system differences.. I wonder what affected the 03 design cap though?

Hmmm, strike that.. They are supposed to be the same! (03~04)

Reference THIS.

I bought a locking gas cap so no one would put anything IN!    Hey hubcap! What was it your Grandfather did?

For an '05, went to a NAPA parts store, NAPA Balkamp part# 703-1643.? Cost was $8.00.? NAPA part works great!
Thanks PrevostBusNut. I bought  a locking cap at an AutoZone store and it won't fit my Av but did fit my wife's Trailblazer just fine.  I'll make a trip to the NAPA store when I have some time later this week.

Checked at Chevy dealer, cost was $45.00.
NAPA part works great!

$45.00?

I hope that's not the dealer you bought your AV from...? Cause they are tryin' to hose you.

I paid $20.00 from Chevy.

I knew I could buy an equivalent STANT cap from a local Auto parts store cheaper but I prefer to buy GM for certain parts. (even if Stant makes it for GM)

I just inquired on the phone with the local NAPA store about NAPA Balkamp 703-1643, and was quoted about $18 for one.  Did you get a 'discount' price from a friend of yours?  (list v/s net price?).  They would have to order it anyway..not in stock.
