Lojack

Did you try a search, my onstar has been expired and I'm debating wether to sign up with them or go with LoJack

Just an FYI.

I live here in Denver Colorado. And a friend of mine worked as a dispatcher for one of the local Law Enforcement Agiences (911 operator). She advised that although LOJACK is a great product only 5 of the police vehicles in all of Denver had the system installed to trach down your vehicle. So what does that say. If those people are off that day or on a different shift, how would the lojack work then? Before you purchase i would contact you local police station to see how many vehicles have it? Do they have another way to track it. The minimum amount of vehicles on the road with it at any given time. If in fact they are responsible for tracking your vehicle? And if if your vehicle were stolen what is the turn around time for them to begin loking for it?

Just an FYI

There have been a few mentions on Lojack but not many. Lojack is available in limited locations and a lot of people have not heard of it. I stayed with OnStar simply because it was already installed and had other features that weren't offered by Lojack. Lojack has better support from the police but a more limited range. The main advantage of Lojack over OnStar is that Lojack has its own separate battery. It does not depend on the car's electrical system to be operated. Both suffer from a loss of signal in tunnels, building and under bridges. I also kept the dealer installed alarm system, Silentser (I think that what it is called???). Between the AV's factory system, the installed alarms system and OnStar, I have done about as much as I can be keep my AV safe and sound.

I had Lojak Installed by dealer and I will tell you why...

I used to have a 90 Suburban. 4x4 lifted 10". Stereo to make people deaf and all the other cool stuff you could squeeze in one. One morning I woke up to it NOT being in my driveway.

I immediatly called the police with my Lojak #. (Never keep that in your vehicle, wallet is the best). About 1 hour later I got a call telling me to go to a gas station to inspect my Suburban for damage. The only thing wrong was the ignition switch and column were messed up from the theft, everything else was fine.

I live in the Los Angeles area and there are many units with the monitoring equiptment.

So, make a long story short, I have it in everything I own.

I have my own custom security system.....
It has three possible settings.....
9mm....
357 magnum...
or 30.06.
I haven?t had to use it yet, but I think that the security emblem on the side serves as a deterrent(NRA)
