Hi, we used to have a 2003 Avalanche and it was a great truck. We sold it 2018, because we got transferred to DC with the military.

Now that retirement is coming within the next two month we are looking for a 2013 LTZ (moving away from DC) and I was wondering if anyone here saw this one here in person. Or should the salvage/rebuid title make one stay away from it?

Thanks and happy new year

Do not pay 25k for an Avalanche with a Rebuilt title. There's a 2007 with 50,000 miles and a clean title for sale near Philly for 15k.

I love my Avalanche but realistically any year you buy is going to need a full maintenance / tune up. I guarantee anyone you buy needs motor mounts on both sides, the power steering fluid needs to be changed, Dexcool needs to be changed etc etc etc.

I personally would stay away from a salvage or totaled vehicle, some states and insurance companies are hesitant to title or insure a vehicle with that history. Some states and insurance companies are ok with it though so you may want to contact your state and insurance first. I am not familiar with a "rebuild title" so not sure where that fits in........

Sorry OP, not trying to rob the thread..

But holy moly I didn't realize how bad my driver's side motor mount is. SNES, your comment made me check. Open the hood, hold the brake, place into drive and rev the motor and the dang motor hops up and down! I thought the clunk on take-off was the slip yoke, but part of it has to be the dang motor mount. The passenger side doesn't seem near as bad (place in Reverse to test) but I'm sure it's shot too.

OP, I'll keep an eye out for 2013 LTZ. If you're looking in the Des Moines area you're not that far out from me.

That weird hesitation / delay you feel when you accelerate from a stop is the motor mount. I cannot believe how much better my truck starts moving now.

The Tahoe forum recommends using the Hummer H3 Passenger side mount our be ready to replace it every 3-4 years.

Interesting about the delay, makes sense. Excited to fix.

And yes I found the same thing on the tahoeyukon forum! It's the H3, not the H2 but great advice. I will use that part since it's a solid mount instead of gel filled. For the next guy, part number is 25847739.

Thanks for your replies and opinions - I am still on the lookout.

Actually, I saw a very interesting one just yesterday - one owner, all services done, clean carfax.

Only drawback: it was owned up north in New Hampshire, so rust will probably be an issue...

Why can interesting vehicles never be around the corner, this one is about 450 miles away from me, so I can't just check it out easily beforehand.

Again my question: did anybody by any chances see that vehicle in person?

Thanks

Here's one in Wytheville, VA. That's a lot closer to you. Looks like the one I bought 8 months ago. They just put it up it appears, so very few pics. Good luck. Extremely happy with my 2013 4WD LTZ.

Hi again,

we bought a 2013 BD LTZ last week, 69k miles, full service records, new brakes and tires, no accident - it is in very good condition.

Thanks again for all your answers
Fully loaded with Cooled Seats, Heated Wheel and 4X4. I'm extremely jealous!

Do you mind if we ask what you paid?

We payed a little bit under 32k - we were getting pretty desperate, because we are retiring and needed one to ship to our retirement destination. Bought it last week - gave it to the shipping company yesterday. Will see and use it again in a couple of weeks.
