Looks Official From GM Silverado SS

Well it looks like its official on the Silverado SS. I got this link thanks to Steelhead Chaser. I would like to have this truck, but a supercharged version. This is still a 5200 pound truck. It will no way catch a lighting period. Not even 0-60. I don't care if it has AWD. Lighting 4700 pounds and 380 HP. You do the math (F=MA) = Silverdao seeing Lightning tail lights passing the 60 foot mark.

Yes it would be nice to order a supercharger SS truck. I don't really see what the big deal is with the drive train. Now if you add a wipple s/c on that 6.0 you should be on top of the Ford lightning. Maybe they will get smart and make that a option. They should also make it in a single cab to loose some weight.

Maybe we will see a blower on the SS next year. One can only hope. That would seem to be the easiest way to boost it's performance to get it in the same range as the Lightning. An all aluminum 8.1L would be very interesting as well. A blown all-aluminum 8.1L would have me salivating! >:D

STOP THAT!!! YOU ARE MAKING ME UPSET. GM will never put a beast like that out.!!! GM needs should get input from the consumers of what we want and need

Sorry! Oh, yah...I forgot to mention the intercooler! >:D

The SS hits Chevy showrooms 1st Q of 03. I?ve seen a lot of negative feedback on the SS because it not as fast as the Lighting or the upcoming RAM SRT-10. ?

Unlike the Lightning the Silverado SS is still a real truck. ?I don?t have the article I read on it in front of m but I know it has more payload capacity than the Lightning?s anemic 800LBs. ?Plus it will hold 4 people and 0 to 60 in 7 seconds is quick for a real truck!

The Silverado SS reaching for a different segment than the Lightning and if you take it for what it is, I think it looks appealing. ?I plan on looking at the SS when it?s released.

Maybe next year they will put a SC on it, wouldn?t that be fun!

A friend of mine has one ordered already. Black with XM Radio. He told me he would sell me his wheels and tires to put on my AV ;D, He always puts new rims/tires on his vehicles. He ordered it last month, and they tell him Feb or Mar for Delivery.

No problem.....no supercharger.....just head on over to magnacharger and pick one out.....that will give you the added boost you need....I'm sure they had a blower just waiting for that truck.....and good point was brought up...it is a real truck with real truck capabilities.... :B:

How does the F150 HD edition stack up? ?
Is their much of a performance difference with those?
They look pretty sharp, and I love Harley's.

The 2002 Ford Harley-Davidson F-150 SuperCrew now has a SC on the 5.4 engine this year that is rated for 340 HP (nice but 40 less than a Lightning) and 425lbs-ft torque. It has a 1400 lb payload and towing rating of 4500lb so it is more truck like than the Lighting.

I would think the SS would be close to the HD F-150 in performace and hauling. The SS has an advantage with full time 4WD and the HD F-150 comes only in 2W drive.

I think both are very slick looking.

You have to admit...that Harley Ford...is quite a looker....if not for the powerplant all those little extra's would be neat.....weren't they putting that thing up with a harley bike not to long ago as part of some contest?.... :B:

Jay Leno put up a Harley and the Harley Ed. 150 on ebay a while back with the proceeds to go to 9/11 victims as I recall. Every night on the show a celebrity of some sort would autograph the bike. There was some discussion here at that time concerning some of the autographs actually reducing the bikes value. >:D I can't remember what it ended up going for.

SS WHEELS / TIRES
Wheel size & type: 20 x 8.5-inch five-spoke polished aluminum
Tire size & type: P275/55R-20 Goodyear Eagle radials

Should be a nice fit (as long as the lugs match up and they can handle the extra weight from the AV) Lucky you!

I don't know about the rest of you guys but everytime I visit an automobile website and it has vehicles as part fo a contest...I know I always throw my name in the hat....you never know nowadays....how you will make out....might be your lucky day... :B:

My list of possible winners are as follows:

Mercury Maurader
Harley F-150 w/ bike included
Mustang Mach !
Nissan 350Z....

Still haven't heard anything at this point....keeping the fingers crossed though... :B:

The dealership down (Miami/Fort Lauderdale) here is putting on a supercharger, chip, flowmaster and 4:10 in the Mercury Marauders. Now that is a high speed pursuit vehicle!!!

That may even be faster that the FHP 2002 Z-28 that the troopers are running around with!!!

I have a feeling I would get myself into trouble with a car like that...I would be too tempted to drop the police strobes and lights....never have to sit in traffic again... :B:

Cops will pull you over just to talk to you in the marauder.

Whenever I go visit a friend of mine who lives upstate NY I always see this Lincoln Blackwood driving around. I am pretty sure after first snowfall i wont see him until spring :)

I to enter contests if I would win a ford or anything like it SELL IT and buy more mods for the Av. The Av and a Z-06 would look very good together :B: :B: >:D (y)

I'm going Z-06 shopping in 6 months. Black with Black/red interior. Black AV & Black Z-06. Need a Black Bourgett bike (131 inch with the bakers 6 speed)

The mercury I would keep..it just seems like a fun car to drive and tear around in...the others I have to agree would go up on the auction block so to speak in order to improve on the Avalanche... :B:

saw the first Chevy literature on the SS today at the dealer. not quite a brochure, but a info sheet with a nice pic on a couple of the salesmans' desk. salesguy said they should get some real brochures in the near future. ;D

This is one thing that my dealership has been lacking in...and that is the literature....I like to see what's new everytime I go in for service..and nothing...I am looking forward to the SSR when it hits the showrooms... :B:
