Well, I am very lucky but here is another reason;

I wanted an 03 AV, have been looking for months and picked up an 03 Arrival Blue Z71 December 26 th.

The story..... Wife did not like the AV look, wished for a new Tahoe, to replace our 97 Tahoe, but would go along with me anyway. At the last minute I called the dealer and said forget the AV, I want a Tahoe, I really wanted to make my wife happy, because she always does what I want, so I owed her one even though I loved the AV.

Took the Tahoe home, had it for a few days and was dying inside. My wife looks at me and says, you are not happy are you, I say no really, but the Tahoe is something we can both enjoy....

Then she says to me, "Call the dealer in the morning and tell him we want the Tahoe given back, we want the AV, and we will pay what ever the cost / penalty is to make the switch, but we have to have the Arrival Blue AV no matter what it takes.

I now have the AV, my wife is excited because I look so happy, and says she will get used to it, no problem.

How lucky am I !, and her idea of a vacation is to go to the NASCAR races, and she also says the AV needs dual exhaust, it is just too quiet.

Don't ever let her get away.
I'll pass on the NASCAR stuff. Used to work ing that field, gets old after 3-4 years of being on the road every week.
Let the mods begin!!!
After I find a new job my modding will get back on track.

Anybody looking for a senior-level marketing executive on the east coast?

Rob

Gee
Your such a lucky man, a wife who thinks you need to put in a dual exhast, and loves Nascar also. I don't suppose you two go hunting and fishing together too?

Congrats on the new AV!

I also love NASCAR, hence the checkered flag striping and "1" on each side of my AV ;) Working on the new exhaust....

Your wife has taste! You are very lucky!! (y)

Wonder, I thought you were after that "Checker Cab" look. ?;)

My Wife likes NASCAR too. My Brother-in-Law and I go to the Races and she goes shopping with her Sister! ?

Hey, I thought about charging fares to help pay off the AV >:D

Had to add the 1's to each side to make it a little less cab-like, hehe.........or go for the "Taxi" light on top, now THAT is a unique mod ;)

You should go out and buy your wife her own Tahoe just because she deserves it!

All this talk of NASCAR is getting me.....ummmmm........excited. Only five weeks to go before the Bud Shootout. I've still got to decide which races to take the Av to this year. My Av is spoiled, as it gets treated to media parking spots in the infield!

And I thought that I had the world's best wife.

When I was (only slightly) thinking of (maybe) getting an Avalanche to replace our 2000 Silverado, I took my wife to see one thinking she would say "What do you need that for, you already have a truck!!?" But no, she says "OOOOOO, that is nice, we gotta get one of these."

The rest is history.

You are definitely a lucky man, just don't let her know it. ;)

I'm with ya Zim...

My g/f thinks my semi-loud Av sounds "stupid". ? ?:)
I feel for you Marc. I once built a show/bracket racer. My fiance at the time didn't understand why all the work and interest in the car. She asked why I didn't just buy a trophy if I wanted one. She said it would be cheaper. True of course, but some people just don't understand...

I see you said "fiance AT THE TIME"... ? :cautious: ? ?:)
That is true. I eventually got my wits about me and "disengaged". ;D

I'll count myself among the fortunate - my wife likes the Av as much as I do. I was sure that she would think that the Av looked to aggressive, but when we looked at the Tahoe and the Av side by side - no question - the Av won for both of us! Many miles later, we're both still smiling!

GoldBowTie, I have a similar experience. I wasn't planning on getting my Av as soon as I did. I was just going to meet the sales guy I had been emailing and drop off my GMS paperwork. I figure then he'd know me and my interest and could help me narrow down my search. In the meantime, the wife and kids are at Ash Wednesday service. They get home and see this black Av in the driveway. I explain payments, down-payment amount etc. She isn't looking all too excited especially knowing we will have to sit at the dealership doing paperwork for about an hour. She reluctantly agrees to go to the dealership (it's around 8pm now). My sales guy, Dale, is waiting for us and gets everything started.

When we are leaving, i look over at her and she has this funny smirk-like smile brewing. She tells me how excited she is that we have this awesome truck and that she has been trying to hold back and trick me into thinking she didn't want it. I was buying into her lack of enthusiasm as I knew she wanted an Av as much as I did.

Well, I have to put in my two cents.

Not only did my wife lobby hard to get me into an AV (I traded a New Beetle for it), but she now wants me to give her the AV and get an H2.

What a gal!

Of course, being a horsewoman helps - she breeds paint horses.

Dual exhaust and NASCAR is cool indeed. Nice catch. ;) I kind of went about my AV bass-ackwords. >:D In 2001 I bought my wife a new fully loaded Tahoe LT. She loves it, as do I. I was driving a '96 S-10 at the time and was actually pretty content, but once I saw the AV  I couldn't resist. Well, my wife started to feel sorry for me, having to drive my little 2WD in the snow and such, so as soon as we could afford it, she suggested we get an AV. No arm twisting here and the rest is history... ;D It's a beautiful thing.

(y)

Reminds me of the day I got my exhaust system. ?I did things the conventional way.

The g/f and I just got back from a vacation, and she's looking to head out one more night up North somwhere. ?I'm whining because it's gonna be about $150 for a single night when we can just leave in the morning and just day-trip it. ?

We'll, I've pretty much closed the deal, when a UPS truck pulls up in front of the house. ?All I could do was mumble, "Oh no. ?Not now."

UPS guy jumps out and wheels over a big box. ?

g/f - "...and what's THAT?!"

I had to explain it was the exhaust.

"How much?"

..... :6:

"We're going tonight."

I too bought my wife a 01 Tahoe. She loves her truck. My pickup was a 90 Z71. I tell her that I might start looking for a new truck too. I take her to dinner and when we are finished I go to the local Chevy dealer. I take her for a ride in a White z71. At first she thought it was too big. THen I had her drive it and she loves the way it handles. WE bought it that night and now she drives it to work one day a week to show off to her friends. I am one lucky dude.......She bought me new Chrome license covers for XMAS. She said the dealer ones just weren't cool enough!!!!!!!
