Low oil pressure

Hi everyone,needing some help.I have a 2003 avalanche 5.3 212,000 miles,I use mobile 1 6qts,and mobile 1 oil filter.engine is fine no noise or ticks or smoke crank up and pressure is 20 and after 10 minutes down and low oil pressure light comes on comes on at red lights or any stopping runs around 24 down the road changed sensor twice no filter under it any suggestions welcome, thanks

I would check specs on the oil filter first, easier than checking pickup tube. I only use ACDelco so I know I have the correct specs. I know other filters may or may not be better but I also know that each can have different effects on oil pressure.

Using a top tier oil filter is always a good idea.

The Mobil 1 should be fine, but when in doubt, the ACDelco oil filter should remove any doubt.

I prefer NAPA Platinum oil filters made by WIX.

With the age and mileage of your engine, the oil pick up tube o-ring has seen better days, for sure.

On my 2004 EXT, that now has 236K miles on it, I chased low oil pressure issues a while back.

Changing the o-ring helped for a short period of time, but I ended up having to change out the entire oil pump.

Even though that engine has other problems, the oil pressure is better than when new.

Check your oil pressure sensor there is a filter under it if it gets clogged it can mess the with pressure

OP has a 2003.

No filter screen on 2002-2006 engines.

Only 2007-2013.

Had the o ring on pickup tube changed it was bad helped for about a day guess a new pump now

I had the Melling M295HV-325S kit installed in my engine.

The kit comes with a new oil pick up tube and o-ring assembly to make sure you get the correct o-ring for the pump.

The oil pressure is better than new, now.

The engine is junk, but the oil pressure is outstanding.
