??? vehicle..2003 Z71 with DJM Drop kit getting installed.
problem. when rear trailing arm bracket is installed on the axle, trailing arm is too short to reach the bracket.
i know Ahhyeah and Sparky has DJM kit installed in Z71 so please help. pictures or discription on what was done to it to fix the problem. take a look at your kit..
and no complaining on me wanting to low a 4wd please.... :-X

I'd like to keep this thread alive as I too am thinking about lowering. The front seems pretty straight forward with adjustments to the torsion bars...didn't think about problems with the length of the trailing arms,

rclydly, As you know from earlier posts I had my kit installed (cause it would have been a disaster if I tried) and Ahhyeah installed his own. I do not have a clue to your questtion. Lets see if Ahhyeah can help you out, if not I will get in contact with the guy who installed mine and ask.

here is the problem..

Hi, I sent the picture on to the guy that installed mine(thank goodness I'm still getting some more stuff done) and asked him about it. He said looking just to the right of the caliper, between that and the exhaust he could see the u joint. the differential has rolled forward/down. Raise the control arm and roll the diff back and yoiu should be fine.

>:D ya know this morning right before i went to work, i took a good at my crippled AV one last time....and what da you know....drive shaft came off about 3inches..means the whole axle is about 3in back then it should be...i guess when i was lowering to axle the drive shaft came out a few inches and it was holding the axle from aligning up....lifted the axle by the drive shaft then vwola! back to the normal position ;D
now the bracket fits good~
that would teach me not to work on my car at 1am..
i should be back in business (y)
cant wait to go home and work on it again...now if i can just stop the rain~~ dang seattle...
Thank you Sparky...Ahhyeah !

 another dilema.....front drive line is preventing me from removing the lower control arm bolt....must remove the spindle??

;D ok after struggling it for 3 rainy days (yes rain..working out side) i managed to get it done with a help of a fellow AV ppl.....Sparky and Ahhyeah....
now it looks good~~getting to the bed is now a piece of cake! (y) although i have a problem areas where i need to adjust (trimming ) but it has been done...WITH 305/50/22 tires!! eate your heart out Big Red ;D ;D ill post some pics once it stops raining...whenever that would be....

Hey rclydly, I know it seems like forever but 3 days does not sound bad. I recall that ahyeah was about there.
Yes getting into the box is a treat, and now you can actually see stuff out the back window ;)

Enjoy. Look forward to seeing the pictures of the 22's. Don't think I will ever push beyond 20.

Ok while the pro's are concentrated on this topic......
Sparky/Ahyeahhhhhhhhhhh.
I have been calling bell tech for 4 weeks on/off about 2" drop springs for the rear.
I have been thinking (which could mean trouble) that i could replace springs in the rear with the 2" drop and that would level it off. I would be satisfied with the front ride height as i travel many different roads and do not need it any lower than it is.
Am i going to have this kind of trouble just installing a different set of springs???????
Spring shop in town told me if I could not get them from bell tech they could have a set built from another guy up north who does OEM type work and follows specs listed on spring for strength and such
the custom made springs run about 250.00 and they will install for 50. buckaroos........
Do you all know of anyone else who makes a 2" drop spring.?????
Thanks for any help
Zeeya

;D Zeeya..replacing spring only is a 3 minute work. just raise the rear end..spring should be loosen enough to remove by hand then replace it with the new ones.....
ok..if youre not a nascar pitcrew then it will take little more than 3 minutes ;D

BIGRED ...only major prob with rubbing is the driverside....when i remove the fenderwells on the driverside there was a parking brake cable sticking out and you have to reposition the cable in order for it to turn the wheel..or other wise it will rub the tire bad...
im still working on it.....for now i just removed the rubber plug and zip tied the cable....ill post some pics soon...
