Which kit to buy for the cheapest, but still a nice ride quality?  I'm thinking about going to a 22" rim so I want them to appear pretty big but still not rub.  I also have the Z71, would the change in rear shocks do anything for that?

You'll have to excuse me, I had my ram known inside and out cause i put the lift on myself and did all the work.  I havn't done much more than wash my avy, so I don't know much about it...yet.

I don't know if you can tell in the picture, but my front end is significantly lower than the rear.

I used the 3" eibech lowering springs and lowered the front bars to level. I also put on the beltech nitro 2 Lowering shocks on . Rides great and handle much better. good luck in your choice. :D

Thank you very much for the reply.  I was thinking a 2" might not quite do it for me, do you have any more info on this 3" kit?  Also, is your avy a Z71?  I am worried the 4x4 system might get messed up....any inisight on this?  Also, if its not too much info to share, what did you pay for your kit?  Thanks again!

It wasn"t a kit. Although you might be able to get it in a kit. Ya and? 2'' wouldn't ge enough. Mine is Z71 also. the only thing I may do is put the lowering keys in the front, so that I dont take the bars down so far. I put 20" wheels on and realy made all the differance. Dave

You can lower the rear up to 5".  Check out stylinconcepts.com, cheapest I have recently found.  Don't forget the swaybar relocator kit and the shocks to finish off the drop if it's lower then 4".

I used spring tech 3" springs and lowering keys, very inexpensive.  Also since I do tow a boat I added Airlift 1000 air bags, I called Airlift and explained that it was lowered and they indicated that a magazine had done an Avy that was lowered and used the bags, they gave me the kit number If I remember right it was for a 4 runner I think..

I have not looked for a while, but I think you can still get the spring tech parts on ebay.  I didn't change the shocks or use a relocation braket, I've not had a problem.  I might some day change to the lowering shocks, but for now the origional ones from my Z71 or working fine..

I do have them on my truck, I'm currently out of town but I'll be home this weekend and I'll look and see if I can find the box or instructions that I had.  I'll also check my emails as I remember keeping the email I sent them also.  Try and email them, now that I'm writing this I think that's what I did.

The other thing you can do is look at the length and width of the set for the avy, then find one that is the same diameter but shorter.  Make sense??  I'm pretty sure I'll be able to find the info when I get back home if you don't have any luck, hit me with either a PM or an email and I'll get back with you.

different type of install, hugz.  looks like he's asking about the 'helper' bags to lift the rear a lil when towing, not the complete bagged set up.

DanV,

I'm interested in getting AirLift bags for mine too, so would appreciate any info you could find on the one's you installed.  :yourock:

the following is the email that I received from the airlift tech, sorry it took me a while to locate the email..

There was an interesting article in the May 2004 issue of Truckin' magazine where they used our 1000 product in an '03 Avalanche with a B/T 2/3 drop. They used kit #60742 which uses 4.9x6.0" bags instead of the stock kit #60769 which uses 4.9x10.0" bags and provided good results. I have attached the correct installation manual for the Avalanche in case you decide to use the other kit.

So,  as you can see the bags in this kit are 4" shorter than the stock bags for the avy, I only lowered mine 3" and they seem to work for me, I think I ordered mine through summit and they were like $70.

I hope this information helps you out.

One more thing the email to contact them is: Air Lift Tech Support [techsupport@airliftcompany.com]

DanV,

Thanks... I knew the part number listed for a "stock" Avy would include bags too tall for a lowered truck. Bags four inches shorter, sound just about right for a 3" drop in the rear.

I got into the "Group Purchase" of the Hotchkis swaybars & control arms (that ends today by the way) and hope to firm up the rear alittle by running just a little air pressure in the Air Lift bags --  just before it starts lifting the truck.

Thanks for taking the time to  do the research!

awesome response--now the only prob is I was going to lower mine 5", wonder if these will work with that drop? ???

What about just to lower the rear bout an inch or 2 to close the gap over the rear wheel? i dont quite like the look of the 2-3drop kit though because it drops too much, i still want the truck to sit up a bit.

Armageddon,

Eibach has a Truck Pro kit that just has the rear coils springs... lowers the truck approx. 1.8 inches. That should close the gap a little, and still leave you with a little "rake".

Nice truck by the way...

Appreciate it alot... my friends always joke about my Avalanche lookin like an Impala SS Truck (96' of coarse), and i never wanted to completely lose the rake just like you were sayin

???Has anyone changed the rear coil springs themselves?  I just put 22"s on my Z71 and want to drop the rear 2".  I looked under the rear and I don't think it looks all that difficult, but looks can be decieving. Any help would be appreciated, oh it is an 04. ???
