August 30th is the begining of the holiday weekend and we have family GTG's all weekend.

I'm good with either date. If we do it on 8/30, I might go back to Carlisle on 7/26.

But then again, if we go to Luray on 8/30, we could hava another gtg on 7/26 at Carlisle

Better Half has to work @ Hospital - not Sure if she can Switch , Since she is a Traveler Its Hard To make Friends When You switch Jobs/Hospitals every 12-14 weeks-- :E:

Just a thought . . . . . Since she's working, you could also come solo. Plenty of people do.

A few thoughts on the dates . . . I personally don't have any strong leanings for a date preference, but on reflection, the Labor Day weekend is usually pretty busy with everyone getting in their last hurrahs of the summer. Along with that, the hoards of us (a grand total of 2 Avs) coming from 95N will have to deal with that joyful holiday traffic situation. But either date can work of us.

As of right now, the voting is showing about even for either date. We still have time before finalizing the date.

I will also status the top of this thread on date status as we move forward.

With the date set for this, and the GTG about a week away, I'd like to confirm who's coming. PM or post and I'll add you to the attendee list at the start of the thread. Even if you've been lurking on this thread, but would like to attend, please let us know you're coming. We'd love to have you join us!

This is going to be a pretty cool GTG. Luray Caverns is enormous and is very "other-worldly" inside.

There will also be very majestic panoramic views on the Skyline cruise.

Don't worry, we're in no rush while on the cruise. It's not an alpine race.

This will be fairly low speed. We will be sure to allow for plenty of stops for photo ops of the scenery, in addition to the stop for our tailgate lunch.

Man, I gotta speak to that boss of yours (in a very diplomatic way of course). They need to know you have important things to do. . . . . . and that you need some more time for FUN! Remember, all work and no play . . . . . well, enables you get more mods and pay lots of bills. We need to get the boss to give you flex time to rotate in more weekend days.

I will be in Florida for a week and a half starting on the 24th, so I cannot make this GTG. Sounds like it will be a blast. I will have to wait for the next one.

The whole group will be meeting at Luray Caverns parking lot, which is ~~cavernous~~ huge!

Mrs. Iguana and I just figgered out when we'll go down. Due to Mrs. Iguana's work schedule, we'll leave to drive down early, early Saturday morning. The drive will be easy, as we'll be past the hairy traffic areas early on. Our target time for the meeting at Luray Caverns will be at ~~doors-opening 9am~~ 10am, in order to avoid the hoards.

Driving down from PA/NJ/DE and doing the GTG is more than plenty for one day, so I recommend anyone coming down that they do not drive back home Saturday night. It is too much very-focused driving to be done safely. We will be staying with relatives in northern VA Saturday night. I recommend people get hotels in Manassas, which is on the way back north, but not back into the more costly parts of northern VA to stay in. Plus you save a bit on hotel and sales taxes there. Do a hotel.com search on Manassas for rates and reservations. Anyone staying in Manassas Saturday night, I can potentially lead you there at the end of the GTG, depending on our ending activities, etc. I know the Manassas area well enough to get you on the main drag, where your hotel probably will be. You'll have lots and lots of restaurants to pick from when you go for dinner.

Mellow Yellow, and anyone else, we can caravan down early Saturday morning. I recommend meeting on 95 at the Delaware Service Plaza. It is just past the toll plaza near Newark. It is about 3.5 hours from this point to Luray, VA, NOT including programmed or needed stops. Saturday morning caravaners should plan on being at the Delaware Service Plaza, no later than 6am. If anyone from PA/NJ/DE is going down Friday night and staying in Manassas, we can hook up with you there early Saturday morning if you like, and caravan down to Luray.
