Have been doing some shopping... been considering trading in the 02 for a current model.

Every dealer in the area is loaded with WBHs... I want a cladded truck!

There are a few cladded but most of the dealers "don't like them" so they don't sell them... what's up with that... when did they (the dealers) earn the right to determine what WE want to buy? :cautious:

Found a dark blue metallic 2500 that I like a lot and that's about it... really want to find a dark grey metallic Z71 (CLADDED!!!) .

Maybe by the time the 05s come out I'll be able to find one :6:

I have found the exact same thing here this week. It seems to be about 15 to 1 ratio (WBH to Cladded).

What I really wish....is that on GMBuypower searches, they would indicate WBH on the results. I have to look at each window sticker to determine if cladded or not :cautious:.

I don't know......I may have to go nekid on the new one ???.

Huh, weird.

At Medved Chev in Castle Rock (CO, not WA, sorry), I got my oil changed about 2 weeks ago and they only had 2 WBHs out of about 13 Avys (can't remember exact count now but it's in another thread somewhere) that were on the lot. But only one was a 2500. The rest were all 4x4 or Z-71 cladded 1500 models. (y)

And 3 of them were DGM: 2 4x4, 1 Z-71. I remember those numbers because I really liked everything about the Z-71 except that it didn't have a DVD system.

When I looked at their inventory online this week, I think they showed about 22 Avys. If the ratio is the same, there would be plenty of cladded models to choose from.

danwil, if you want to buy one of those DGMs, I can drive it out for you and visit family while I'm there. >:D

Question: the Chevy commercials here in Colorado say "Chevrolet: built for Colorado" - I am just wondering if they do that for every state. ???

And WesTexAVY - your '02 was stolen?!? I'm sorry to hear that (saw your .sig). Hang in there...

Cheers,

-Joe

My dealer had seven Av's on the front lot about two weeks ago - All Cladded!
I thought they hadn't been able to sell them but that wasn't the case, they just received them, and have a 2:1 demand Vs. the WBH! (Per a salesman... So who knows.)
So I guess it varies within areas.

Knowing that some dealers have a bunch of Cladded AVs gives me hope.

In Oregon a 4X4 seems like the natural way to go. Carr Chevrolet had (I believe ) 8 AVs and 6 of them were Z66s.. that really blew us away.

Maybe they are trying different approaches in getting trucks on the road.... I've been watching inventories and they are going through a bunch of them. Two local dealers turned about 5 each last week... the web guy can't keep up ;D....

In our travels yesterday morning we saw 15 AVs on the road... that had to be a record (for us at least)... They are getting REALLY popular out here.
NO AMBERS THOUGH :6:

I'm not giving up.... maybe in a month or so the truck I want (with the deal I want >:D) will fall in my lap.... patience is the key i guess... I just feel a bit of urgency cause my mileage keeps racking up...

Dark Grey is definately the way to go ... ;D Good luck finding your truck and post some pics after you pick it up.

Something about that truck is appealing to me ;D ;D

HOWEVER.... That dark blue metallic 2500 is VERY TEMPTING >:D Like AV2500 sayes' " BIGGER IS BETTER" >:D ;D

My problems are:
I don't tow much so the 8.1 isnt really needed..
I'm ticket prone :6: Led foot extrordinaire :7:
I drive a bazillion miles and with gas prices :cautious:
My 18's won't fit and I want to take them with me.

Other than that ??? ??? :cautious:

A Z71 is probably the better choice..... Mrs Danlwil wants me to take her out there to see it anyway. ;D

My problem is... AV2500 had me drive his truck for an entire morning... NOW I'M Majorly spoiled... THere IS a huge difference. Geez... I hate to admit that >:D

You can always order one like you want! One of my co-workers did it and got a great deal! His dealership gave him all of the discounts that the rest of us got for taking one off the lot! It took about 2-3 weeks to get it, but it has everything he wanted.

It's all up to the man behind the desk at each dealer. Looking at inventories around No. Va., you'll find some who stock only WBH and some that only stock cladded. Very few around here carry a mix of any sort.

Like FD said, if you don't see what ya want, order it and wait. it's a lot better that settling.

Around here they only had a couple that were WBHs. Personally I really like the WBH (Grew up around Silverados).

But all of the cheaper models were WH around me. I liked the
WBHS but they were all fully loaded z71 models that I wasn't
interested in because of sticker shock. So We compromised on a WH model that was somewhat base. (Now that it is modded it
rocks though :)

But I keep reading things in sport truck magazines about how ugly
the cladding looks. Tuners have started modding the WBHs in a way that they hadn't been doing with the WHs. Alot of people perfer them to their cladded counterparts. I guess that is why some dealerships are only stocking the WBHs.

I think it is funny too since WBHs are a -600$ option but they like to sell them fully loaded. I guess to composate for that.

I agree with what others have said you may want to just bite
the bullet and order it from GM. Have you tired the private seller
route? Ebay or auto trader? Just a thought...

Aetatis.

Well a few weeks ago I saw my first WBH in a dealers lot as I went into a conv. store.I didn't even know they came that way.I've alway's thought boy if they would only make the AV without the cladding I'd look into these. So my quest began to get the best deal I could on a WBH AV.The first 3 dealers I went to pretty much stocked the WBH's on there lot but nothing I wanted for options. After getting close to ordering a Silver Birch Z71 WBH from the closest Chevy dealer,he pulled a fast one on me and changed the deal we had talked about a week earlier, went from dealer invoice to 200.00 over invoice after he called me up and said he was going to give me more for my trade in.So anyway after that crap I went to the 4th dealership to look at a Black Z71 Cladded AV just to check out the leather interior. Now this dealership says they sell more WH's than WBH's,which I thought was strange. But to make a long story short I saw the black with the cladding and did I ever change my mind about wanting a WBH.The front's look so much cooler on them and I ended up getting the deal I was looking for and a few more option's thrown in.

That's very similar to my situation... I've seen a couple of WBHs that I like but keep going back to the cladded truck.... We like our 03 VRWBH but for my purposes and preference I'm looking for just the right deal... I hope it includes cladding ;D

BTW congrats on your truck.... I believe that you're gonna luv it!

if your close to ohio there is alot of dealers here that have the cladded modles on their lot and just toda i saw several dark grey ones on the lot in fairborn ohio at Jeff Smidt chevrolet

cant you just get one built?

yep.... just waiting for the right deal.... if I can find one locally I will...

besides shopping, looking for trucks, kicking tires, challenging salesmen, catching them in lies.... that's half the fun >:D

you should hear some of the stuff they say....we know a bazillion times more about AVs than they ever will.....

today we were told that only the OLD avalanches had cladding.... huh???? what a dope... had a lot of fun training him though >:D

I almost bought a WBH as well... but the cladded AV looks meaner and this one has more options then the other one... at almost no difference in cost... now you could not pay me to buy a nekkid AV...

Nekkid is growing on me, at first I did not like them, heck they were nekkid. But, now (y)

I went offroading for the first time today, lots and lots of soupy mud, some brush, tall grass, etc. I'm glad I had my cladding otherwise I'm sure there would have been scratches. I never thought I would actually go four wheeling. But, I stumbled across an area in my town, lots of other trucks out there. I was not prepared (no tow strap, shovel, etc). Luckily it all worked out well, four wheel low got me out of a few binds. Now to replace my GM mud flaps and front air dam................oooouucchhh!

The nekkid's OK, but if I went that way I'd have to do the EXT. My cladded version went 2 years before my first door ding, and that was over the front wheel opening.

Although I like nekkid.....I'll have to say, when I buy again, it will be cladded.

If not for the cladding I would for sure have more door dings.

Amen brother! We were in the market for an 04 Z-71 and decided to go your way.

I think I mentioned in another thread, but the Chevy dealer here in Nashua NH has only WBH AVs. I talked to one of the salesguys and he said no one that comes in wants cladded. If you want a cladded 1500 or a 2500 they either special order it or will do a locate. As long as I can order one in the future I will be happy!

this year and saw the wbh... liked the look a lot more. Stole mine from the dealer. I had a specific need I needed the bench. The down side of it, there was not many options that came with the trucks with the bench. But I could deal with it simply because I got a steal of a price.... 37+ sticker... I paid 25,500 (thats before any cash down and didn't have a trade). Saved me enough money to put some after markets on the truck.

Wanted to thank the members on the site, new to it, but so far a lot of good information to be found (now if I only had time to read it all).
