manifold bolts - what years are trouble?

My son just bought a 09 Avy. Seller said they heard manifold bolts can be a problem, was not sure what years are affected but recommended we replaced the bolts. Currently all the bolts look ok.

1/ what years are affected? or is it all Chevy V8s?

2/ should we even bother to replace something that is currently ok?

3/ is there a recommend part #1 for the replacements?

I found these on Amazon , made from stainless steel should be stronger than OEM

All thoughts or comments welcome, cheers all.

I had several exhaust manifold bolts break on both sides of my 2004 EXT.

I had all of the old bolts replaced along with new gaskets.

I do not think this is a problem with any certain years.

Mine are fine from 2002

And all of the exhaust manifold bolts appear to be fine on my 2003 Avalanche.

Both of my trucks have around 1/4 million miles on them each.

I'm sure it's just the luck of the draw.

My 2010 popped two manifold bolts.. I took the bandaid approach and used the Dorman clamp which bolts onto the block and presses the manifold down. Cured my cold startup exhaust leak/tick since August 2021. I know it wasn't the proper fix but for $25 I took a shot and it has worked out great.

I agree that manifold bolts can break on any year, and is not a reason to avoid certain model years.
