Manual Lumbar Seat Problems

This has been talked about before with the power seats but I'm having problems with my manual lumbar support.

Most people probably have the problem too but it's not enough for them to notice. However I have a pinched nerve in my lower back and it hits me in exactly the right spot to cause severe pain at times.

Problem that seems to happen is that the Lumbar Support will shift during driving. I keep it set all the way off and the dial is in the full off position, all is great. After some driving and some bumps, it'll shift and will be partially on. But the dial remains in the full off position.

If I turn the lumbar support way up and then off again it will go back to the full off position. However doing this every 30-60 minutes while driving gets old in a hurry and sometimes I don't notice it until my back starts hurting.

I took it into the dealer and they thought they could turn the lumbar support fully off and then disable the lumbar support dial and that would keep the lumbar support in place. Worked great for about a week, now it's worse than ever and I am unable to use the dial to "reset" it.

It's going back to the dealer so they can take another shot at it, I'm not upset with them... they've done what they can so far.

While I like the AV and Chevrolet they really dropped the ball on this lumbar support for both the power and manual seats. :8: :8: :8:

It's enough of a problem for me that if the dealer is unable to fix it, I will have to look into getting another vehicle that doesn't use the seats that have this problem.

The only good side is that it identified my pinched nerve in my back and I've been going to the dr. regularly for 8 months now to try and get it fixed. Never had any problems when I had my 2000 Sonoma... when are the new Colorados coming out?

if the dealer cant fix it have them send it to a upholstery shop and have them take out the lumbar mechanism and replace it with foam for teh support for your back and then you will have no lumbar support :0:

The dealer is ordering new parts for it... I think they want to try and replace the whole lumbar support section of the seat.

I don't have a problem with that, it's worth a try. If that doesn't do it I'll have 'em take the seat apart and weld the lumbar support into place. :)

As far as I can tell, mine's OK. I don't have the sensitivity that you do, but if things were changing significantly, I think I'd notice it.

I hope the dealer can work something out for you . . I'd sure hate to see you have to give up the Av!.

On the good side it is saving me money on gas. :)

I think they'll get it fixed, just wish it was a faster process but I know they're doing what they can.
