It is official...My AV is going to be in my will!!! ? ;D ?It has snowed close to 2 feet here already and I am lovin the AV. ?Avalanche is a perfect name for this truck. ?It just sticks to the snow like a 3000 pound husky. ?

I got to take my puppy out 4 wheelin and than I let the pup go wind in the snow. ?Man It has already been a great day and it is still snowing hard. ?

Now only if I can find a way to enjoy my scoot too. ?

:( Well, we're not far from there. We live in lower Sussex County, DE and have had about a foot or so of snow. On top of that, it has been sleeting for about 3 or 4 hours now. Let's just say, we have a 2wd Z66 Av, and it's going nowhere soon.

Oh well, that's what happens when you don't buy 4wd. But then again, why spend an extra $3k for something you only have use for about 5 or 6 days? The first dealer tried to sell us a Sunset Orange Z71 demo with 6k miles for the same price we paid for a Z66 with more options and 3 miles, but we didn't want it.

I guess we'll just sit around for the next few days and then try and get the Av moving again. As of now it's a dirty statue in the driveway  . It just doesn't like snow or ice...

14" up here in Kent county Del. BTW Beach, you sure it was a SOM Z71? Are you sure it wasn't victory red?

Beach- I live in Cleveland area-
I have had my Z-66 in some pretty tough spots (snow and Ice and mud of recent) it is NOT a 4x4 but it will go where most others will not think about.
I am more afraid in this weather to have some little chump in a run about hit me rather than me losing control-
Too Many yahoo's about to risk my av on crowded snowy roads, I'll just take the wifes car then >:D

Roro,

I know what you mean. ?My wife and I have been out cruising the snow for hours this afternoon and early evening. ?We had a blast!!!! ?We even did a little house hunting. ?HA! ?We were going down streets that were unplowed, and everyone was snowed in, making the first tracks . . . . 12" [EDIT: 17"] worth! ? My Av didn't even flinch. ?It just wanted more. ?I have to say, I'm pretty impressed with the Z71 setup. ?I never had the chance, weather-wise, to put my 02 through the paces like we did today. ?
We were having so much fun, we didn't even want to come home.

If anyone out there is still on the fence about buying an Av, believe me, the Z71 can more than handle some serious weather and very effortlessly, at that.

I too was out blasting through the MD snow today >:Duntil the governor shut down the roads to emergency vehicles only. :6: It was fun while it lasted. I had snow flying off the sides of my AV four feet on either side. The snow was so deep, my running boards were packed with snow. It was a mini rush. Almost like an amusement ride. My kids loved it too.

I'm an RN, so i'm considered an emergency vehicle as long as I have my Hospital ID. Unfortunately, I had to come to work tonight and will most likely be stuck her for a day or so because of staffing issues :( So no fun in the snow for me.

Well I got up this morning with all the intent to heading over to PA to go snowboarding, and I wake up to an overnight accumilation of 6-8 inches more!! I officially have clearence issues now. Wow...I might actually struggle a bit to get out.

The biggest thing....The ski mountian is actually closed!!! Now that is a Blizzard!!!!

As for the emergency restriction...who is going to pull us over? The rear wheel drive Caprices the police drive around here??? Ha try it! >:D

sands611- Okay, well it can get through some pretty tough places, but generally, it's no 4wd (but that's certainly no bad thing). It did quite well in a wintry blizzard we went though in PA over Thanksgiving, and got us up and down a slick, icy mountain road with very little slipping.

However, it looses traction quite easily on fairly slick surfaces, often too on rainy days. Part of it's the positraction (used to it with our other old Chevys) that causes some sideways movement and part is the lousy Goodyear tires. She already said she's going to buy 4 new Michelins when these things are done  .

:D Just got back in from digging out, not that I needed to but my neighbors and my wife need to get out sometime. Now they are waiting for the plow to come to push away the 25+ inches. I was out at 6am crusing around the unplowed streets having a ball. I hope they don't plow too soon.

I actually attempted the unplowed streets and lets just say.....IT WAS FREAKIN AUSOME!!!! The truck plowed though everything (including 4 fott drifts) with no problem what so ever!!! I actually yelled at a plower for clearing out the parking lot I was parked in. "I am not done having fun here yet" We shared a laugh.

My only issue is these idiot drive out here in little Celicas or Mini vans. Why is it THAT important to be out here wasting the time of people who can be out there having fun or working.

But I digress....I am going back to looking for unplowed roads again.

;D

We got about 2 feet here in Sterling and I have been having a blast going through snow drifts/piles. I have hardly even had the need to throw it in 4 wheel drive. This is the best vehicle in the snow by far. This morning on the way to work I had to pull out about 3 cars and 2 trucks. She never even broke a sweat. I love it. ;D

 I took my '02 Z71 out yesterday in Northern VA in the 18 inches to 2 feet of snow trucking hospital folks to and from work! Even towed a car out of a ditch after a CUV failed! I went everywhere, even the neighborhoods and apartment lots where the residents dumped their snow in the street...
