Thought I would give a little update on Max since so many met him at the Bluegrass National. If you met him there you know he is a "people dog" he get excited to see new people and just makes up with everyone so well! He is still a "little bundle of love" and a very funny and entertaining dog! He has claimed a little corner of the living room where my wife kept a blanket to cover up in the evening (because I LIKE IT COLD in here) Well Max will disappear when the sun goes down. He gets under that blanket and covers himself all the way up! He will lay there till we go to bed, go out to potty and get right in his crate!
I say he fits right in because he likes to sleep so much! He does play a lot with Rudy through the day. Right from the start he was the one who was jealous, if we are loving Rudy he has to butt in and get his share! Max has this amazing climbing and jumping ability for such a short dog! We have caught him on our kitchen table so we now have to make sure that the chairs are pushed up under the table. Today I caught him on a table out on the porch with his feet up on the top rail of the porch! I hope he doesn't think he can jump down off of that porch, we have 4 steps going up on the porch + a 3 foot rail!
Now I catch him snooping around in the pantry, looking for some of our food! He does learn very fast though. If you clap your hands very hard while he is snooping and tell him no, he will run and hide. He seems to learn after just one or two times not to do that again!
I had to Max proof the front porch when we first got him. We had a gate up and Rudy would stay out on the porch some but it was obvious that Max could escape so I had to add a stop to the bottom of the gate and a spacer under the railing to keep him in. I also had to put lattes along to sided on the railings because he could squeeze through there. He loves it out on the porch and seem to want to stay out there for most of the day. Heat does not seem to bother him, he will lay right in the sun on these hot days when there is a lot of shade available. Of course we keep lots of water out there and check on him a lot. When Travis, our youngest son comes to visit Max is all over him wanting to play. When he leaves we have to put Max back on the porch so he can see Travis drive away or he will spend the rest of the evening scratching on the door wanting out!
Digging for moles is another of his passions! When out in the yard if he sees one of those mounds of dirt that the moles leave he will run over and scratch it once. If he gets a fresh sent he goes into his max-digging mode! He can throw dirt 10-12 feet behind him and when he gets down to the mole tunnel he puts his bottom jaw in it and his top jaw on the sod and bites and pulls off the sod and throws it! He has yet to get a mole but he is on the lead when doing this as we do not have a fenced yard.
I need to some new pictures of some of these antics but for now here are a couple of him relaxing...........and he just loves to lay on his back on your lap and get his belly rubbed!
