So I hand washed my baby for the first time this winter season.  I won a clay bar from BlueDevil at an earlier GTG.  Since my truck is not even a year old yet and it gets washed at least once every other week, I figured how bad could it be?  GROSS!!!!!!!  It was DISGUSTING.  After the clay bar and a waxing, my daughter said it looks like it did when it was delivered.  My question is....how often can I safely use this stuff?  Every washing, or just when I plan on waxing?

After is stops raining, I'll pull it out of the garage and try to post a couple of pics.(I'm not real great at getting them on-line)

Clay once a year is ok...

Have to wax afterwards...

Clay more if you live near railroads or manufacturing plants that spew out industrial soot...

Ok, I WORK for the railroad....how much more often?  It gets dusty everyday, but I try to use my California duster on it everyday it hasn't gotten wet.

Didn't I tell ya girl!!!??!!  I'd do it at least every few months.  I do mine at least twice but don't work for the railroads.

Yndio

try this..

clean truck...
dry...
put hand in clean plastic baggy...

rub funger over paint while in baggy..

if it feels rough... then clay... if not ... dont clay..

you will not harm paint by claying... unless dirt is in your clay and you scratch it..

I was thinking about only using the bar twice before replacing.  The paint isn't that great on these things, don't take much to mar it.  Thanks for the replies, I would have never thought about the railroad thing.

Yndio, I should have NEVER doubted you, sorry.  You're right, I love this thing.

MMMMM...
Spring is coming very soon.... must get motivated.must get motivated.must get motivated.must get motivated.must get motivated.must get motivated.must get motivated.must get motivated.must get motivated.must get motivated.

Just got a new McGuiars Mother's claybar kit at Pepboys today, car gets it first, then the AV.

Couple pics of a clean truck.? My dentist's nurse asked today if it was new!!!!

Just realized I missed the tires, knew I forgot something  :E:

Clay bar for me is a one-time use on painted surfaces........

it works great on windshields and windows for the second use.

Did you use the detailer spray or the soap and water method. Looks like soap and water would be alot easier.

I am using the Clay Magic Perfect Finish Kit, It comes with clay lube  :p

I guess I have never clayed cause they make it sound like its so easy to scrath your paint up. Guess I will give it a go. What do you use to take the little swirl mark scrathces out?

You can use Rubbing Compound (Fine Cut) to remove fine scratches, oxidation and water spots.

I prefer to wash truck...

then rinse...

then make small batch of car soap solution and clay using that with hose handy to keep it wet...

to me is easier as you dry it only once.... and if you see a dirt spot ya missed you can get it...
