To day I was cleaning my Avalanche and I moved the seat forward and back to clean around the seat well after I got done I got in started the Avalanche and hit the #1 button and ouch :C: my knees ran in to the dash :8: so I hit it again nothing so I moved the seat to the way I want it and hit "Set" then "1" then I moved the seat and hit "1" and it moved me back :7:. I can't figure out what the problem is. Has any one else had this problem? or know how to fix it? ???

I have experienced a similar problem. Occasionally the seat "sets" will lose their "memory" altogether. Most of the time when I set #1 the same setting will be "remembered" by #2. This also seems to work in the reverse.

I have had this on my "warranty list" when I take the Av in to the Dealership. Ths first time they "checked" it, they said the memory seat is "in spec"., whatever that means. Still has the memory problem, though. Due to take the Av back in in the next few days for them to fix the heradlights "delay off" feature which has stopped working and they say they fixed last time. If the memory seats, headlights and door wind noise "issues" don;t get resolved this next go around, I'm going to let Chevrolet deal with it.

I had the same problem with my 99 Deville. I had it in a total of 40 days over 2 years and they never did fix the problem. They replaced about everything but the seat. Finally Cadillac gave us a 2500 dollar certificate on the purchase of our next Caddy for all the problems we had. We would go out there and sometimes even find the drivers seatback reclined into a bed. Used the certificate on a STS the next time and never had a problem. :B:

I took my AV to the dealer and they don't know what the problem is I have to take it back some time maybe they will give me $2,500 to help buy a new 2003 Avalanche that would be nice.

I just purchased a "gently" used Av with 12k miles on it, and have noticed that it has the same case of Moron seats. Anyone have any updates on this? I'll talk with the dealer next week, but I wanted some ammo before I went to them.

Thanks,
Jason

I've only got 7,000 miles, but haven't noticed any problems. You DO have to have it in PARK before the memory works, but it sounds like your problems are it's working too well and the memory is gone.

Red,
Both times it has done it to me, I've been standing outside of the vehicle, so it's definitely in park. The first time, I griped at my wife for programming her spot on both buttons. Then it did it to me on another day, so I apologized for blaming it on her.
