MEMPHIS ICE Vs AVALANCHE Z66

Finally got some ice here in Memphis. I estimate the ice to be about a quarter to half inch thick. The avalanche performed so well, I had to put the rock aside and bring back the Heartbeat of Chevy. There's a hill at the end of my street that was covered with ice. There's a stop sign on the top of the hill. Out of 4 or 5 cars only one made it to the top. But since they had to stop at the stop sign, they too had to slide back down the hill. All were front wheel drive cars except one. I started to turn around, but that would've made me late for work. So I went up the hill and stopped next to the car on the hill that could not even go an inch forward. I waved at them, looked both ways and then took off. I've have always wondered if I should've gotten the Z71 even if I don't go off road, just for the ice. Today erased all questions. The Z66 is all you need if you don't go off road.

Hi and welcome to the forum. ?Today was also my first time to try my Z71 in the Memphis ice and snow. ? ;D ?I had to take my wife to work 20 miles away, and I am very impressed with the performance on snow and ice.

The only thing I miss is being able to do doughnuts in the virgin snow parking lots!

Hey Avalanchecrazy,
I work in Mississippi, and the roads down there were alot worse. Ice, ice, ice. I normally aways have a second car, front wheel drive just for this purpose. I sold it to my sister last month. Glad I did now, got to try out my Z66!

I had no problems with my Z-66 early this morning...I fished it once..the TC killed it and everything was fine after that.

I'm sure the Z66 works fine but man did I have fun with my Z71 here in Arkansas. I took some video of me doing some donuts in a K-Mart parking lot and I will upload this AVI as soon as I get home. I love these trucks! Edward....sounds like you got a new member there in Memphis!....one more to tag along to Hooters! :0:

I had fun in my '02 Z66 in 8" of very wet heavy snow but have never had it on the ice. I am sure it would do just fine as it handled the snow as well as anything I have ever drove!

I'm sure the z66 does just fine in the worse elements, but i do like the auto 4x4 in the z71. It's a peace of mind.

Help, I am getting snow and ice again in DC and cann't stay inside. Just took ol' av out to the parking lots and hills to show everyone how it goes and goes. I think I am addicted to the snow, use the tow-haul mode and makes a big difference going up and down the snowbanks. Like all of you, really having fun another week in the snow, seem nothing stops the AV in bad weather. Really like the parking lots to myself, panic stops, slides and power take offs all straight and true in my big blue. hope all of you stay safe and keep having fun. Please stop me, I do have to work to pay for this thing   ???
