Michigan New Members "CHECK IN" and Welcome Page

Burrd checkin in, I grew up,here in the D,  always had cars in my blood, I worked in the Auto Show biz, I still have my Firebird I bought when I was 19, I started a Forum for them, I stumbled on this site because of my '05 Avalanche I bought new in July '05, good thing my tailgate lock is broke, or I would have prob never knew a site existed for the 'Lanche. The Detroit Clan from my site meet at Duggans, if your ever there, look up. The white Trans Am spoiler hanging there is from us, lol.  And the Aussie Holden Dog dish hub cap. Woodward, Duggans, The D man.   Glad to be here.

Glad you made it over Burrd, been to Duggans a couple of times during Dream Cruise.

That is some member list! Names Jeff and I'm on the west side of the state in Spring Lake (about 35 minutes west of Grand Rapids). Just bought my first Avalanche a couple weeks ago and ran across the forum while using Google to answer some questions I had at first.

Well welcome to the site!  I am in Muskegon so we are practically neighbors. If you see a black avalanche with black factory rims and probably running the very yellow HID fogs it is likely me.  I ride I96 back and forth to work in GR often although I am currently off until August 1st while I am getting ready to go to the national GTG

I bought an Avalanche in '01 and found CAFCNA in '04 while looking to add a few modifications.
I knew I found a new home here instantly

:welcome: to the Family!!!!

Spotted a yellow cladded bumblebee Avalanche four doors down today, wife say it's been visiting regular the past week. I'm going to verbally tag them when I get a chance.

My name is Jim and I live in a place called smiths creek (west of port huron). I just purchased my first avalanche from a fella I work with.  He knew I had been talking about needing a vehicle that could tow my mud truck  that I have been building and also haul the inlaws around when needed. So, a couple fridays ago he came in and offered the truck for sale to me. I told him that I would think about it and get back with him on it.  lol  1/2 hour later I bought the truck on the spot. I then searched around the web and found this site and it looked like a fun place to connect with.

Sorry I forgot to give details on the truck.    It would be an 02 white truck with gray cladding and charcoal leather interior.  I could not believe how nice and well taken care of that truck was in. I think I am going to like this truck alot.

Thank you ms03 .  I will have to pass on the steakhouse this year though. I must attend the inlaws family christmas get together that day. Though I must say, nana is a wonderful cook!

Hello!

I was told after stopping by the main new members page to say hello here as well.

Original owner of a 2004 without body hardware birch metallic Z66.  The truck has always taken good care of me.  Still riding with the original engine and transmission.  With 197,000 miles and Michigan winters, the rocker panels and the fender panels in front of and behind the rear wheels are starting to rust bad.  I have been trailering a 2010 Rockwood Roo 23ss for the past 5 years with it starting at 100,000 miles and the truck handles the towing great.  (dry weight 4,500 lbs).

I'm at the crossroads of deciding whether to sell the truck or fix it.  I've chosen to repair the rust and other things and continue driving it for a couple reasons.  First, the cost of a replacement truck is absolutely ridiculous at this point.  $20-25,000 for a comparable newer truck with 100k miles on it or $50,000 for a new one!  Second, this truck was/is a beast.  I swear it drives just as good as the day I bought it.

We sold another outstanding vehicle lately a 2005 Ford Explorer Limited.  Instead of using that money for a down payment on a new vehicle, I'm dumping part of it into the Avalanche.  Here is a list of the things I've done so far this month:  used a black restorer on the outside black plastic (wow do it if yours is grey), new headlight assemblies (all four), wax and rubbed out the scratches, replaced the front grill Chevy emblem (hard to find), detail cleaned the vehicle inside and out multiple times, trans fluid service, differential fluid change, new tires, power steering fluid change, new wheel internal hub because the stabilitrax system wasn't functioning properly (pushed override button to turn it off for over a year), O2 sensor - bank 2 #2, fuel system cleaner, radiator drain and service.

Still have a few things to do:  drivers seat needs cushion repaired and rips fixed ($265) radio knobs (source, volume and tuning buttons are worn).  All steering wheel switch lights (the lights went out one by one).  A/C climate control unit (left side light is out).  Want to add Bluetooth to the factory radio.  Rust is here! (under hood by latch)  Slight rust on inside bottom corners of doors, outside rocker panel shot bad (going the slip on route). In front of and behind the rear wheels rusting coming quickly.  Cargo area leaks (yet to figure out why) and maybe some new shocks.

Happy to be finally posting here!  I love to keep my truck stock, like it kept the way I bought it.  The only thing I added was an audio input plug for my phone/ipod.

Hi everyone!  I'm Edward.  DidIt and enoniam sent me here and I (finally, after 3 times) got registered and signed in here.  I'm in Muskegon Michigan, transplanted from Atlanta Georgia about 3 and 1/2 years ago.  I bought the Avy shortly after I got here and I've loved it ever since.  Few issues with the truck so far being I've rebuilt the transfer case and transmission within the last year.  Other than that, replaced all the shocks and front end parts, but mostly, having to do repairs from when I hotdog it too hard!  Gotta put that ORV sticker to use, right??

I uploaded a few photos to show you guys what I've done to it so far.  I need to take a recent photo, but it just started snowing so maybe not the best time yet.

*Next mod - I painted the tonneau covers with Road Armour from Harbor Freight Tools, and so far they've been holding up well.  When the truck thaws, i'll remove all the upper cladding and paint it all with the Road Armor and replace the 3rd brake light with a LED 3rd Brake light I got from amazon, and add the AVY Shades.  Also been looking at the super flux LEDs from Oznium and adding 6 white to the top piece of the cladding and wiring them into the reverse/cargo lights.

I'm planning on going to the dinner that enoniam and DidIt told me about in December and hope to meet you guys there!

Looking forward to meeting you at the Holiday Dinner!!

Thanks for the opportunity to say hi from a new member.  My name is Jim, and I live in south central Michigan.  I just recently purchased a 2102 LTZ.  This is my third Avalanche and with this new buy, I am finally back into my favorite vehicle!  The Avalanche is perfect for me and my family and will be a great addition to my garage.  I love the idea of the fan club and I will keep watching this.  I am leaving on a road trip the end of this month for a month in Florida.  Should be a good test for the 2012.  Just had tires balanced and rotated and will have the oil changed next week.  Thanks again for the club....
