I have a question about the midgate, can it be removed so you can have the seats up(so people can sit in them) and also see into the back(with keeping the glass and the bed cover slips in?) because I have a dog, and a family. I dont think theres enough room for the dog up front, but I also dont want to put the dog in the back to freeze/sufficate, or would it? Its kinda cold up here so removing the closest to the window panel wouldnt cut it either.

Hi,

I have 2 huge Dogs.

heres the deal the midgate can be either up or down it can be physically removed and the top portion reinstalled so just the glass remains. the hard covers in the back are water tight but not insulated!

if you do a search on the sight one of our members actually split the midgate so half can go down and one seat can remain up.

Thanks. I dont think i'll cut it in half. how long does it take to remove the midgate. I would only be doing this for long trips and in the winter time so it wont be that big of a deal if it too a good half hour.
I think ill have to pick up that 3/4 ton soon... This is going to be a way more vercitle truck then a crewcab silverado I was looking at.
I know some "I'll make it work'' type people so I can probably get those box covers/tailgate insulated. :B:

I've taken my midgate out before in order to carry a 6 foot step ladder and still have 2 rear seats available. (I haven't split my midgate yet.) You can easily remove it by carefully prying off the covers over the hinges and removing the 4 nuts. Then, open the midgate with the back window in place and out it comes. There is very little visibility into the back with the seats up, so I doubt that very much "climate control" will make it's way into the back bed. But you will have more sound coming into the cabin, and of course anything heavy back there will slam into the seat backs during a crash or sudden stop.

10-15 min. using a cordless drill/socket set.

I removed mine 3 weeks ago so I could hear the subs that I placed in the bed. (Since there is very little room in the cab for subs.) I did this after hearing about it from a member named Kr00g.

Before I took mine out I sent him a PM to ask if he had any trouble with leaks. He anwsered "No".

I'ts been a month now, and there have been a couple of hard rains. So far so good!

I run with my midgate folded down 99% of the time so that I can have a full pickup bed... I have no problems with water outside the normal drips
