Midgate?

Absolutely! It's just that your target market shrinks to club members in search of an Av in your color, options, mods, etc. vs. your local area market.

Anyway, keep up the great mods and next time you find a can o' worms to open, I wanna watch and read! (y)

Yep, mold76, I know everyone can read the forum, but you get the point, smaller market. ;D

You're right on the spark plug thread, started that one yesterday and I haven't finished it yet!

BTW, good news - My orange av will be 1 year old as of October 25, with 26,000 miles and no leaks yet! Knock on wood! I do use the mid gate weekly and make sure it is shut tight. Had a few other small problems, but over the quality and durability have been great.

Good luck with your Av...

I wouldn't have given the Avalanche a second thought if it wasn't for the midgate. A 5.3" bed would not have worked for me. I had an extended cab shortbox GMC prior to the Av. It was a great vehicle, but I found myself needing/wanting a longer bed on many occassions. However I wasn't ready to give up the protected storage and seating (however cramped, I didn't have to sit back there! >:D ) of the extended cab. The Suburban would have worked but I didn't need all the fancy stuff behind the back seat. An extended or crew cab would work, except I didn't want to deal with a 150" plus wheelbase and increased overall length. Enter the Avalanche. Full size seating fore and aft, eight foot bed when needed and a 130" wheelbase. All the bases were covered in one extremely flexible and practical vehicle. The General really got it right with this design. Of course, I am preaching to the choir here!

I sold an Avalanche to a person how when I showed pics to thought it was the uglyest thing ever I don't want that but when we got one in and I should the guy the midgate he tought it was the coolest ever he bout it but now like the claddless version beter :6: but he love the midgate

dreimer, got tears, now.ya know. i have posted many a "sloppy' and dont even paragraph right, but i love my av .. av...good....midgate....good... around 9-11, left midgate down all week in honor, of avs on americas roads. called it av appreciation day, I DO appreciate my av like got change says..."my av does what I want" and dat be me reasun to rum italldedayamtime

Well, I have to say I never would of bought an Avalanche without the midgate. Never. The flexibility it provides beats my former pickups hands down. I'm typically conservative and bought the Av despite it's unique looks. Now that I have owned one, I understand why it looks the way it does. Pure function. I love that!

I also love letting the kids ride their bicycles in my driveway without cringing.

I also love letting my dogs run around in the back with the midgate lowered...then when I get to where I'm going, I just pop it back up and have a CLEAN place for people to sit.

I love my toolboxes...best design I've ever seen.

I love my open aired Jeep (Avalanche).

I love the standard bed mat! ;D

I love the standard tonneau cover. :D

I love the fact it fits in my garage (my HD didn't).

I love the way the cladding stops my dogs from scratching the top rails of the bed.

I love my locking tailgate.

I love the fact the bed drains.

I love my Pro-Tec tailgate.

I love the steps and handles out back. :-*

There now. Did I 'make up' for all that negativity! >:D

Here is what I was trying to say
I sold an Avalanche to a person who does not like the looks of the Avalanche he bought it because of the midgate. I love the midgate and the looks of the Avalanche both, but the midgate is what make it an Avalanche

Sorry of any spelling errors or grammer errors I will try to work on geting beter
~Lance Knopp

I would say I bought my Av 75% because of the look, and 25% because of the midgate. But in the future I imagine I will be using the midgate function a lot more than I do now.

The midgate is what makes the Avalanche what it is. You can't change for a dollar if there is no change to be made!!! As for the cladless sides as an option, those are Suburban doors on it. I know our trucks are based on a similar concept, but it looks like the Burb and Av are inbreeding. Did Chevy not sell enough Burbs last year and decide to put the doors on our Avs? Has anyone seen a picture of it? I love my plastic, and I am darn proud of it. Plastic lovers unite! (Disclaimer-I hope I didn't offend anyone who like the cladless sides!)
