Missing dash pocket :(

In my change to the 03 from the o2 I lost the dash pocket that is under the radio. I used it for my cell phone. Now the Traction Control button is in the lower/right corner...the rest of the opening is covered with plastic plates. I want to relocate the T/C switch to somewhere else...doesn't even need to be showing as I never use it. I want to install the pocket. My question is this...anyone who has an 03 w/o traction control/onstar/homelink....what do you have there? A pocket I hope. I miss my pocket :C:

Assuming you mean to the right of the radio under the vent... then yes, I have a "pocket" there on my '03. Pics would help.

I gather you are talking about the dash pocket shown in the photo below? (although of course yours is on the other side of the radio)

Mine is an 03 2500 so it doesn't come with traction control. Looks like you can get the pocket you want as an OEM part, you just need to relocate your switch.

Ok Skidd... you really threw me there for a sec with that picture.

Is traction control the same as Auto 4WD? Or is that a Z66 thing? My 03' Z71 has Auto 4WD, but the switch is on the left side of the dash.

Skidd, you kill me. I saw the picture before I realized it was you. I thought something was "backwards" then realized EVERYTHING was backwards....everything but the radio controls that is!

Sounds like idocpilk has a z66 or a non-z66 2WD Av...my Z71 doesn't have a traction control button either...just the pocket that I keep....um...NOTHING in...I've always considered it useless.

LOL... sorry for the confusion folks. >:D Hey, I'm just happy that I can now talk about something that I can go out to the car park and have a look at!!

Now for the record, there are numerous in depth discussions in other threads about the difference between traction control and auto 4WD... but to sum it up, no they are not same.

Yep you are right guys, it's a 2WD drive thing so the Z71's don't have it... and I find the pocket is purfect for my sunglasses. (y)

Car Park? Is that Aussie for Drive Way?

Thanks for the feedback. I am heading to the dealer to get the part. My phone is wandering all over the truck...can't have that. The Traction Control is a 2wd option that comes standard on the Z66...like mine. Thanks again. (y)

LOL... you know I normally try and "Americanise" my language when I post, but I truly thought "car park" would be an international term. :-*

Car park - space set aside for the stationary storage of automobiles, either single or multiple places together can form large parking areas.

We have one out the back of our office that allocates space for about 16 cars.

BTW... we call a driveway the area or apron of sealed (or unsealed) surface that provides access / egress from your private land to the public carriageway.

Parking lot

Car park is a decidedly Brittish term.

The driveway is the (usually paved) path on your private property that leads from the public highway to your garage (enclosed area), car port (roof only, open sides) or other private parking locations. ;)

Carriageway is never used around here. And dual carraigeway would be "limited access divided highway". (or freeway, turnpike, expressway, thruway...)

In a previous job, I used to develop voicemail systems. Our English based product was translated into several languages: Spanish (South American) Castillian (continental Spanish) Quebequois (French-Canadian), French (Parisian), Portuquese, German, Dutch, etc...

Then we had a request to translate our English (American) system into Brittish English for the european market. We didn't think that there would be too much to it, other than to re-record the prompts using British voice talent. Boy, were we wrong.
"Operator" became "Attendant"
"Pound key" became "Hash key"
"Transferred" became "Redirected"
And many more.

When we got the system set up, it was very strange to be hearing the system speaking not only a different accent, but using words that were almost, but not quite, the same as we were used to hearing.

It's a wonder that the two sides of the ocean can actually communicate with each other. :2:

You know what they say, "United States and England: Two countries seperated by the Atlantic Ocean. --Quote by Eddie Izzard

Boy, has this topic gone off track!

Craig

Ah...but in America we park on driveways and drive on parkways...sounds like a few things got scrambled on the boat over. :2:

ROFLMAO... I should have know better than to get into an English discussion while SS was on line.

The term carriageway is not so well know here, mainly used in a LEO environment (former job) most people would know it as road, street, highway or freeway or at best public thoroughfare.

BTW... how many "t's" in British? >:D ;)

Skidd, your pic threw me for a loop for a second. i was wondering what the heck was wrong with your steering wheel. i realize you have a RHD vehicle, but did not realize the pic was posted by you initially. :2:

Did the original question get solved?? >:D

Yup..original questions solved...it just seems to be the nature of CAFCNA member's nature to beat something to death in the name of fun.

I call my garage a CAR HOLE.....................BTW I have a cubbyhole that I removed from my AV if you need one

Sure ToyGun...the dealer said he could order one for $12. What did you put in your hole...(that didn't sound right :cautious:) when you took out the cubby? Let me know what you need to ship the box. Thanks.

Got the dash apart and looks like the pocket will go straight in. I am going to mount the T/C switch on the inside of the pocket on the right side. There is plenty of room for it and it will serve double duty...I can still get to the switch if I need it and at night it will put a bit of light in the box. A small thing...but just the kind of stuff that makes someones AV their own. :B:
