First Off, this is the greatest site filled w/ useful info and helpful people all w/ a common interest, "The Tightest truck in the world".

As it nears the end of the month and the year, dealers are feelin' the crunch on getting out the 02's for the threes. They are willing to make major deals which we can take advantage of.

I have been saving up for years and my piggy bank is up close to enough to get an AV. Would you all think it would be possible to get one these "UAA's" for 23K cash OTD or am i fooling myself. I know I am talking base of the base on options, but thats fine w/ me... for the mods will definetly come later.

I am pushing on making a deal this weekend since the 2500 cash back is still in effect, what do you all think.

thanks,
sponger :B:

Are you trading in a car? If it's a newish Olds don't forget you can get a $1000 GM loyalty rebate.

I doubt you can get one for $23k out the door. But you never know.

Sometimes dealers will sell a vehicle at a loss to pump up sales numbers for some reason.

I feel pretty sure that you can. We've been having dealers around here for more than 6 months advertising base AV's starting around the $23k-$24k mark. I'm not so sure that you'll be able to get a 4x4 but a 2wd isn't at all out of question.

Go GET IT!

give it a shot, if not that 23k will make a very nice down payment, and with the 0% financing, your monthly payments will be pretty low, especially if you can find one for under 30K.

Thanks for the quick response fellas'

I do not have a trade so it will be a straight purchase. I am seriously itchin' to get out there and start dealing, but one of my co-workers has connections w/ some retired GM "exect" who claims he can hook it up. For how much? I will find out by the end of this day. I would hate it if i where to purchase the Av and find out the next day I could have gotten it w/ a decent discount.

I am pulling my $ out from my CD's, and taking the penalties for early withdrawl, for there is one thing on my mind at this time...

a V8 assault tank... ;D then maybe I will be able to get some sleep... we'll have to see...

Get on the phone, call dealers within 100 miles or so. Lay your cards on the table. . . I'd think that you might get someone to bite . . .

BTW . . . why not take advantage of 0% financing instead of breaking the piggy bank? You can always pay it off earlier if you want - when CD's mature and the penalties aren't so severe!

I have to agree with that one...may as well borrow some money from the General while he's offering it for free. Having payments each month doesn't feel as good as having it paid off, but when you think about the savings....

Also, if you do go out hunting for a deal, I had great success going through GMBuyPower rather than calling around to dealers. From the Chevy website you can search for dealers in your area (and radius you want) and search through their inventory to find exactly what you want. Then you can request a quote on that exact truck. (The inventory isn't 100% up to date, but it seemed pretty good). Saves you the trouble of dealing with a place that would have to trade for what you want (they didn't seem as willing to deal in my experience). I got some great quotes back, and didn't have to spend hours on the phone. The inventory search takes a while, but overall I liked it better. I got an offer of over $1000 below *invoice* and that was over a month ago...now...who knows. :D

Good Luck!

I don't know. I made it out the door last March for $24,500.

That's pretty cool!

$1500 is still $1500.

What's the sales tax in Texas? Or in California? It's 6% here in Michigan.

look for used also - they are rare, but I got my Z71 for 25K out the door at a Ford house (was a little upside down on my trade and $0 down, but 5% financing from my bank). Good Luck!

FYI. The GMS base price according to GMBUYPOWER employee portal for a no-option 2WD is $26376 USD.
A base 4x4 is about $28600 USD. Now if your GM retired exec can get you into a company PEP vehicle with 2500 to 7500 miles on it, then subtract 9% of the BASE MSRP from the GMS price. (Roughly another $3000). Of course this does not include the destination charges (about $700), taxes, title, registration, and of course your mileage may vary, see dealer for details, not all people will qualify for 0% 60 month financing, financing is a limitted time offer, not all colors and options may be available at time of purchase. :B:

For those of you who didn't know, Carnut is a writer for all those misleading car ads on tv and in the paper! LOL :B:

Well to make you more hopeful and some of you jealous, I got my nice loaded Z 66 for 26k. It should have cost me 35 K. But I get a gms1 discount, plus i got another 2 k off of that and ).0% financing. So I did pretty well. Oh and Im 18 years old.

Gee--- dreams really do come true!!!

Congradulations on your new AV it soundg gorgious.

You know there is some truth to the saying that "when you really have to work to get something you appreciate it more". It was nice that your dad helped you and that the two of you were successful

Well I'm back about 2 weeks later for the update.

To answer my own previous question, I guess it was mission impossible. I haven't heard the word 'Low-Ballin' so many times in a 24 hour period, but hey it was worth a go. I love dealing w/ those salesguys who will nearly do anything to get the deal. My Father and I invested 2 full days in our search for that one 'great deal', running through about 10 Chevy lots in Southern Cal and hagglin' our hearts out. The 2002's where leaving fast, so we had to settle for the 1'sies 2'sies that where left on the lot. Since I had only 'X' amount in my account, I couldn't be too picky on options and color since there where so feel left and at what I could afford.

Well bottomline is that I got my Sunset Orange Av this past weekend and at 27K even OTD. I love everything about it, its a monster on the road and you get all sorts of 'peepin-toms' as they fly by you while you are cruisin' at 60 taking in the breeze and the clean ride. It's Great.
Thanks to this site for all the feedback in the never-ending search that now has finalized in a mans dream car. To His its Own.... many mods soon to come. Thanks berto and dmacker.

sponger ?;D

BTW......sales tax in TX is 6.25%. You also have an Inventory Tax which I think is only about .23% (was in '95 anyway). That's how the Dealers get to pass on the tax they have to pay the state on their inventory. For just the past 5-6 yrs. they've been able to pass it on to the Consumer. Before that your best deals were right before they had to pay it in January.

Sale tax? sales tax... we don't need no stinking sales tax (in Oregon at least). ;)

If you check around, I bet you caoul get a really nice used AV (maybe with some nice extras) for that price. It may be a dealer demo or something. Just make sure to check it over.

After months of research and hours of internet study (all of which was on this site) I am very happy w/ the outcome. It would be great to buy a vehicle w/o tax, especially when its over 8% in Cal But hey, thats where negotiating an OTD price comes in, to have them fluctuate on the actual tax and profit to give-up.

My search has finally ended, attached is a pic of our newborn.
